The List for Wednesday, September 13th 2023

Welcome to The List,

And here WE are stepping into the “Way Back Machine”! Dolly Parton revealed an interesting connection between the song “I Will Always Love You” and Elvis's 1973 divorce from Priscilla Presley. “Elvis loved the song, in fact I talked to Priscilla not very long ago.  She said, “You know Elvis sang that song to me when we were walking down the courthouse steps when we got divorced.” The irony is that Dolly turned down Elvis's request to record the song, because he wanted half of the royalties.

The List for Tuesday, September 12th 2023

Welcome to The List,

"The Drew Barrymore Show" resumed taping yesterday.  They're not using writers, so they're not violating the Writers Guild strike rules.  But the WGA is NOT happy about it. Two audience members showed up wearing WGA pins that were handed to them by picketers outside the studio.  And those two audience members were asked to LEAVE before the show started. It looks like Drew started something, because "The Jennifer Hudson Show", "Sherri", and "The Talk" are now coming back, too.

The New York Jets experimented with Aaron Rodgers, and so far it's been a BAD TRIP.  Aaron didn't even last a single drive before he was sacked and knocked out of the game with an ankle injury.  It happened after he took his fourth snap of the season. Luckily X-rays were negative, however we learned just today that his injury is a torn left Achilles, which means he will be out the rest of the season. Backup QB Zach Wilson took over, and the Jets ended up WINNING 22 to 16, after a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown by Xavier Gipson in overtime.

-----

The "MTV Video Music Awards" go down live TONIGHT . . . which is a weird night for an award show, but whatever.  They're in New York City, and so are several members of 'N Sync. There's been talk that the guys already got together to record new music for Justin's upcoming animated movie "Trolls Band Together".  So this would be the perfect opportunity for them to debut it.

-----

Carrie Underwood gets paid a huge amount for singing NBC's "Sunday Night Football" theme.  She reportedly earns $1 million per week for her pre-game song.

The List for Monday, September 11th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Alan Jackson was asked about writing and then performing his song 'Where Were You, When the World Stopped Turning' during the 35th Annual CMA Awards "At first I didn’t think I would ever write a song about the event because I just didn’t feel right about it and then this came out of nowhere and then it went on to be such an anthem for it for years. And now it’s kind of grown into just its own song outside of 9/11 where it’s just a song about faith and hope and love." Of performing it? He was proud they just got to do it.

Some of those sounded like garbled snores."…and others have gone to number one remember that Jason..
