The List for Wednesday, April 6th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Yesterday, the "CMT Music Awards" introduced a new "socially-voted category."  Before I tell you what it is, you should know that you can only vote by swiping up on CMT's Instagram Story through this Saturday. It's called the Trending Comeback Song of the Year, and it "honors iconic stars and their hits that stood the test of time but also recently found new popularity."  They're basically asking you to make an older song popular again.

Here are the seven nominated songs . . .

"Freight Train"Alan Jackson

"Neon Moon"Brooks & Dunn

"9 to 5"Dolly Parton

"I'm a Survivor"Reba McEntire

"Suds in the Bucket"Sara Evans

"Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"Shania Twain

"Love Story"Taylor Swift

The winner will be announced across CMT's social platforms before Monday's show.

Garth Brooks is opening a "bar and entertainment concept" on Lower Broadway in Nashville.  He bought a three-story, 40,000 square foot building that was the former home of the Nashville Sporting Club.  There's no name yet, and it'll be a while before it opens.  He says quote, "The goal is a classic honky-tonk that welcomes all and encourages love and kindness while playing the greatest music in the world in the home of Country Music."

-----

Multiple 2022 CMT Music Awards nominee Maren Morris took to social media to share that her latest album “Humble Quest” broke the record for the most first-day and first-week streams on Amazon Music for a country album by a female artist. Thanking her fans on social media saying, “Ya’ll have lost your ever loving minds, thank you so, so much for this.”

-----

Barring a setback between now and Thursday, Tiger Woods says he’ll play in this week's Masters tournament.  The golf legend just made the announcement at a news conference at Augusta, saying "as of right now" he has plans to tee it up when the tourney begins on Thursday. It’s not so much about Tiger HITTING the ball, it’s the walk around the course, they don’t allow golf carts on the greens and it may look beautiful in video and pictures but Augusta is VERY hilly. Good luck to Tiger we hope he does well if not win the whole thing.

-----

The Forbes list of Billionaires is out today and pop star Rhianna, made the list this time around.  She joins Jay-Z and Kanye West on the short list of the richest of the rich and the 34-year-old expected mom and entrepreneur is Barbados’ FIRST billionaire worth a cool $1.7 Billion.

-----

Yellowstone National Park is giving away annual passes in exchange for donations of $1,500.  But the passes are for the year 2172 . . . 150 years from now.  It's meant to recognize the park's 150th anniversary.

"It’s the 22nd century…the year…2172…countries are at war, starvation is rampant, gas prices are REDICULOUS…it’s brother against brother…but HEY! You got an annual pass to Yellowstone!  YAY!!"

The List for Tuesday, April 5th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Sam Hunt Says his hit song '23' was inspired by a trip to the beach! ' ... “That may have had something to do with it. We were down there and it’s easier to tap into that nostalgia when you’re at the beach, thinking back to trips you know from your youth. But who knows? But I’m glad that it worked out that day because we wrote it in probably two hours, which is pretty rare for me.” He'd been trying to work up to if for several years and a lot of times you’re just one word or little change away from an idea…the idea came getting sand between your toes.

-----

Tim McGraw like most of us loves taking family road trips.  Can you imagine Tim traveling just like Clark W. Griswold From "National Lampoon's Family Vacation" ... "I've got a 15-year-old Cadillac Escalade that I love. It's like my Griswold family cruiser. I just love that car, and we'll do the southern route and go to L.A. and then go up to Northern California and then take the northern route back, and we've really enjoyed it." I wonder if Tim McGraw HAS a cousin Eddie…he would almost HAVE to…

-----

Jake Gyllenhaal has a new movie out this weekend called “Ambulance” he was talking to Jimmy Kimmel last night apparently director Michael Bay’s home is big…“It took a while for us to find each other, it’s a very large home.  It’s huge and it’s filled with transformer memorabilia.  I ran into Bumble Bee before I ran into him.”Yeah, I can’t imagine Michael Bay having an understated house…We’ll preview “Ambulance” Thursday with ‘At The Movies’

-----

Darius Rucker is planning a free concert on the campus of the University of South Carolina because the women's basketball team won the National Championship on Sunday by beating UConn 64-49

-----

Sad news today MARTHA STEWART's four dogs killed her calico Persian cat named Princess Peony.  She says they "mistook her for a Roast Rack of Lamb with Garlic and Herb Crust…on a doily of course

-----

The creator of "Squid Game" is working on a movie that he says will be even MORE violent.  Its working title at the moment is "Killing Old People Club".  There's no word on the plot. Yeah, I can’t see that causing any problems and   Here's a good reason to watch next Monday's "CMT Music Awards".  They're down to six Video of the Year nominees, and you can still vote at CMT.com.  Surely, your favorite will win.

The List for Monday, April 4th 2022

Welcome to The List,

First off congratulations to Chris Stapleton on his Grammy win for Best Country Album, Solo Performance and of course Brothers Osborne for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.  I was glad to see no one got smacked.

Checking those trends and what people think are cool…Tesla cars are now in some places are being used to hunt ghosts in cemeteries.  The trend started last October when a man posted a video of himself driving through a cemetery. His dashboard cam showed a person in front of his car even though no one was there. Glitch in the software…or…a ghost…YOU decide.

-----

The Sun says Will Smith is allegedly heading to a celebrity sanctuary to relax. A source tells the newspaper, He’ll be doing a lot of soul searching and working out how he can move forward….Some would even say Jada shares some of that responsibility.  Will's fate with the Academy will be decided on April 18th, where he COULD lose his Oscar.

-----

Erich Church in some hot water with fans over cancelling his show Saturday in Texas to attend the Final Four game between North Carolina and Duke.  Well, Erich is offering a free concert in September to make up for it. Which is nice…by the way North Carolina won 81 – 77 over Duke.

-----

In Tulsa, Oklahoma there’s a donut shop, called Big Baby Rolls, and they’ve created Sylvester Stallone donuts. The glazed donuts have white icing and Sly's likeness on top. Because that’s what Rocky and Rambo are known for..Sylvester DID however post a video with one of the donuts. He said being on the donut is his greatest accomplishment.

-----

Hooray for Hollywood: Here are this past weekend's box office results.

The List for Friday, April 1st 2022

Welcome to The List,

What do YOU think of Eric Church cancelling a concert to watch the Final Four this Saturday….Jason Aldean is weighing in…“I feel like people buying a ticket to come see your show, you have to hold up, you know you’re in the deal on that. I don’t think I would feel good if I did that so I don’t think I could pull it off.” Adding he understands somewhat were he’s coming from he just doesn’t think he could do it. What do YOU think of all this?  Go to our Facebook Fan Page at Iowa’s Best Country KIX 101.1 and leave a comment.  Look for the ‘Cancelled Show’ pic and tell us what you think?

-----

Thomas Rhett is nominated for a Grammy for his song, 'Country Again'. He says winning a Grammy for this song would be really special. “I don’t know, maybe the stars have aligned on this one.  But, this one in particular would be very special to win.” This was a song he wrote during the middle of the pandemic and never thought it would see the light of day…Thomas Rhett’s new album 'Where We Started' comes out today

-----

Madame Tussauds in Orlando has added a Dwayne ''The Rock'' Johnson wax statue to its collection. It shows him scaling a building while wearing a white T-shirt and cargo pants.

-----

One last thing about the Eric Church Cancellation…Bud Light will be buying a round of beer at the River Walk in San Antonio on Saturday at 8:00 P.M.  That's the exact day and time the canceled Eric Church concert was supposed to happen.

-----

The guy who produced the Oscars says the LAPD was ready to arrest Will for battery, and laid out various options to Chris, but he kept telling them no. TMZ is reporting that 66 viewers felt compelled to fire off emails to the FCC regarding the violence they  witnessed on the Oscars…I guess some parents had some uncomfortable conversations with children that were watching.
