Pack the Backpack Holiday Edition, presented by Central Office Supply, a division of Minuteman, generous employees at Lenox in Marshalltwon and Kix 101.1! Each Wednesday in December, we will be awarding $101 to a Kix Country classroom to help out with supplies this holiday season. You can listen to each new winner on Wednesday at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.
Our 3rd Pack the Backpack Holiday Edition winner is Farren Johnson, Art Teacher in the Grinnell School District. She was nominated by fellow teacher, Ashley Wolfe:
Hello Kix Pack the Backpack,
I would like to nominate Mrs. Farren Johnson at Grinnell Elementary Schools. Mrs. Johnson is the art teacher for three elementary schools in our district. That's a lot of kids she has the opportunity to work with and inspire using art! However, the pandemic has brought on new challenges for her. Art students are now asked to provide their own art supplies. As we all know the pandemic has also been hard on many families making them unable to provide these requested art supplies for their children. Last week Mrs. Johnson sent an email "begging" for clay, watercolors, markers, paint brushes, etc. that she is still lacking for every kid to have their own supplies for class. I know she would be more than grateful to win the Kix 101 Pack the Backpack! I have seen her do amazing things, especially with my unartistic sons :) Please consider Miss Johnson for this month's contest.

"Yeah, we did physical training, gun training, we had an amazing stunt team. Patty really wanted all this stuff to be as practical as possible. so, um...it was painful." She says she still feels like she's recovering from some of the action scenes. 'Wonder Woman 1984' hits HBO Max and theaters on Friday, December 25th.
Yesterday I reported that Chris Evans is going to be the voice of Buzz Lightyear in a new film about Buzz...well, MovieWeb says some ''Toy Story'' fans are upset at the change...with one fan saying. "Replacing Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear is almost as bad as replacing James Earl Jones' voice as Darth Vader...He has a point...
The COVID vaccine is here and Jimmy Fallon talks about the excitement "What a moment for the country right now enthusiasm for the vaccine is somewhere between the new PS 5 and the McRib. People all across America are lining up for shots, normally when that happens here in December we call it Santa Con."

Actor Chris Evans is going from Captain America to Captain of Space Command...he's going to voice Buzz Lightyear in a “Toy Story” prequel called "Lightyear" an origin story for the iconic “Toy Story” character. The project is aiming for release in June 2022.
Jon Hamm plays Vice Admiral "Cyclone" in the new 'Top Gun: Maverick' movie and says it's a visual high five to the audience. "The movie is a visual high five, it is an excellent, perfect blend of nostalgia for the original and a continuation of the story. The visual elements in it the aeronautics the flight sequences are jaw dropping. It's going to be worth the wait, I'm very excited for people to see it."

Sad news today, Country music has lost another Icon over the weekend. Charley Pride, according to a press release from his publicist, the country legend died on Saturday in Dallas, Texas, a Country Music Hall of Fame member, the first Black singer to join the Grand Ole Opry, and the 2020 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award winner just this past November -- He was 86 years old.
