While today may help a little with the flooding along both the Mississippi and the Missouri Rivers, forecasters say the threat of additional flooding could continue through the end of the month.

This long-duration flooding is very uncommon, according to Wendy Pearson, deputy chief of Hydrologic Services at the National Weather Service Central Region Headquarters in Kansas City. She says the flood risks will continue well into the summer months, and she notes the entire region is still vulnerable.

Governor Kim Reynolds toured the flood damage in the Quad Cities area yesterday.
