The List for Wednesday, October 13th 2021

Welcome to The List,

At the beginning of a music career, it’s not always an easy one.. Just ask Maren Morris she once played to an empty bar… “I definitely remember a few mental breakdowns along the way. Like, in a bar, where no one showed up for our show. And wondering, ‘Can I do this? Am I suppose to be doing this?’ And yeah, looking back, I’m so glad I went through the struggles and the highs and the lows because it makes me so much more appreciative of what’s happening now.”

Tim McGraw shocked fans in Reno, Nevada last weekend when he jumped off stage to confront a heckler. He was getting booed by some in the crowd because he  forgot the lyrics to his song “Just to See You Smile.” McGraw hopped off the stage to get in their faces.  He later explained he had been working 48 hours straight shooting the new Yellowstone prequel series, 1883. He asked the audience to forgive him if he didn’t sound his best or if he missed a few lyrics, and in general, they seemed to do so.

Garth Brooks will present Randy Travis with the Artist of a Lifetime Award tonight at the CMT Artist of the Year ceremony 8pm on CMT

The Rock tells Vanity Fair magazine that he has spoken to several politicians about running for president IN 2024.  But tells the magazine “At the end of the day, I don’t know the first thing about politics, I care deeply about our country. And—there’s no delusion here – I may have some decent leadership qualities, but that doesn’t necessarily make me a great presidential candidate. That’s where I am today.”

Ron Howard tells Female First that Fonzie caused him to lose his hair. “The biggest stressor of all was Fonzie. Not Henry, but Fonzie. It did not escape my notice that as the season went on, the Fonz was getting more and more screen time. I didn’t handle my stress particularly well.  My hair started thinning.

The List for Thursday, February 5th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Rumors are flying that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have allegedly set a wedding date. A so-called source says the planning is “military-level precise,” which tracks, because Taylor hates surprises and Travis runs NFL playbooks for a living. Pop music, professional football, and Hollywood elite all in one room. Locked down, protected, unforgettable. Basically the most intense group project ever attempted.

-----

Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison is launching a new dating show for people who want a “traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values.” Which apparently is now considered edgy programming. Somewhere, reality TV just gasped. This is not roses and drama. This is compatibility and emotional maturity.

-----

Before Luke Combs made it big, he had $200 left in his bank account. That money went toward mastering one song, “Hurricane.” He releases it, sells about 10,000 copies the first week, and uses the cash to finish the rest of the album. Then pitches it to labels. And that, kids, is how you bet on yourself and win.

-----

Toby Keith, Kenny Rogers, and Ed Harris are being inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The ceremony happens in April in Oklahoma City. They’re joining legends like George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Kurt Russell, and Burt Reynolds. That is a hall with serious swagger. Cowboy hats optional. Legends required.

Catch The List, with Jonathan Knight weekday afternoon at 4:20. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
