The List for Tuesday, August 29th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Rock . . . and I’m talking real, honest-to-God rock and roll . . . has been absent from the Super Bowl Halftime Show since 2010, when The Who took the stage.  It’s overdue. But assuming that it makes its return in February, who should get the gig?  Well, the game is being played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and Governor Joe Lombardo has an idea. At a recent press conference for the Super Bowl Host Committee, he was asked who should play the Halftime Show, and he replied, quote, “AC/DC!  . . . I’m serious.  Bring ’em back.”

Elton John was hospitalized over the weekend after he slipped and fell at his home in the South of France. His rep said, quote, “Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure.  Following check-ups, he was immediately discharged he’s now back at home and in good health.” Elton is 76 years old, and just wrapped up his supposed farewell tour.

In case you haven’t noticed, Zach Bryan is a superstar.  As evidence, I give you next year’s Quittin’ Time Tour.  It’s a 10-month trek featuring arena and stadium shows . . . and some of the openers are headliners.  They include Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and Turnpike Troubadours.   It kicks off March 6th in Chicago, with a stop in Des Moines April 26th and will wrap December 14th in Tulsa, Oklahoma. .  You can register for presale tickets at ZachBryanPreSale.com.

It seems like every country singer has a bar in Nashville, so this wouldn’t be shocking:  Rumor has it that Morgan Wallen is opening up a bar-slash-venue, right by the Ryman Auditorium and Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row. This begs three questions:  When will it be opening . . . what will it be called . . . and will it serve Bud Light?  Unfortunately, there aren’t any answers yet.  Morgan and his team haven’t commented.

Julia Roberts is ready to call it quits in Hollywood!! Geo TV reports she allegedly wants to live a “low-key life” away from the limelight.  She and her husband own an $8.3 million townhouse in San Fran and a 32-acre ranch in New Mexico a source tells the network, Guess which one she wants to move to permanently.

The Daily Mirror says Hugh Hefner’s widow, Crystal Hefner, has revealed that he took so much Viagra that he went deaf in one ear…interesting facts that no one ever wanted to know…

The List for Thursday, February 19th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Travis Kelce is out here setting expectations so high the rest of us are gonna get yelled at for bringing home gas station flowers. He’s reportedly spent $141,000 on pre-wedding gifts for Taylor Swift, including Rolex watches, designer jackets, and daily flower deliveries. Daily. Meanwhile, I forgot my anniversary once and tried to fix it with a breakfast burrito. Travis Kelce just ruined relationships for every man in America.

Lainey Wilson is teasing new music, and the title might be the most Lainey Wilson thing ever. The new single is called “Can’t Sit Still,” which tracks, because she’s been everywhere except my back yard party. She says her friends describe her as “a suitcase with legs,” which honestly sounds like Delta Airlines lost her twice already. No official release date yet, but she says it’s coming “real soon,” so prepare your playlists accordingly.

-----

Bunnie XO just revealed she thought Jelly Roll was a jerk when they first met, which proves once again women love a fixer-upper. She said he had “teddy bear with teeth energy” and sad eyes, and she basically looked at him like a home improvement project from HGTV. Fast forward to now, they’re one of Country music’s biggest power couples. Moral of the story, sometimes the guy who ignores you becomes your husband.

-----

The new Mummy reboot is ditching the Tom Cruise action vibe and going straight for emotional damage. This one’s from the director of Evil Dead Rise, so instead of running from explosions, you’ll be running from your own nightmares. It’s about a girl who disappears and comes back after spending quality time inside a 3,000-year-old coffin. It hits theaters April 17th, and I’ll be watching it from the safety of daylight and denial.

You can catch The List, this afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
