The List for Thursday, September 30th 2021

Welcome to The List,

Today we take a look behind the scenes of how a couple of your favorite songs came to be…we start off with Elvie Shane, his song ‘My Boy’ continues to climb the charts it’s even been on the Top Kix at Six.  But where did the idea for the song come from…“I had just been sent a post on Facebook that said, ‘I don’t have a step son; I have a son that was born before I met him.’ Man, that resonated with me, there was a message there and I wanted to get it out. Nick Columbia said, “Well tell me about your step son.” I said “Man, he’s MY BOY” and the rest is history”.

You love the song and know the dance…’Fancy Like” today we get the scoop on how FANCY Walker Hayes really IS” On my socials I get a lot of people that watch me and my kids and my wife at home and their like ‘we also eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch.  Sometimes I think they get this impression that our life is fancier than theirs. I guess Fancy Like was my response to that, like nah…we’re pretty normal average joe people.” They may be “average Joe people” but I’m still struggling with that fancy dance!

Yesterday we touched on the Britney Spears conservatorship and the possible outcome. well, great news for Britney!  Her father Jamie Spears was suspended as her conservator Wednesday. Shortly after news broke Britney took to Instagram to share footage of herself flying a plane, which she captioned, “On cloud 9 right now “First time flying a plane and first time in a prop plane”

Dog the Bounty Hunter fans are closely following along as Duane “Dog” Chapman tries to track down Brian Laundrie, the fiancé of Gabby Petito who went missing after her disappearance and death. As Chapman and his team share updates on their findings, fans can’t help but wish on social media that Chapman’s late wife Beth Chapman were still alive and part of the search. On Wednesday, Chapman took to Instagram with a video saying “The search has just begun.”

The List for Thursday, February 5th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Rumors are flying that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have allegedly set a wedding date. A so-called source says the planning is “military-level precise,” which tracks, because Taylor hates surprises and Travis runs NFL playbooks for a living. Pop music, professional football, and Hollywood elite all in one room. Locked down, protected, unforgettable. Basically the most intense group project ever attempted.

-----

Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison is launching a new dating show for people who want a “traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values.” Which apparently is now considered edgy programming. Somewhere, reality TV just gasped. This is not roses and drama. This is compatibility and emotional maturity.

-----

Before Luke Combs made it big, he had $200 left in his bank account. That money went toward mastering one song, “Hurricane.” He releases it, sells about 10,000 copies the first week, and uses the cash to finish the rest of the album. Then pitches it to labels. And that, kids, is how you bet on yourself and win.

-----

Toby Keith, Kenny Rogers, and Ed Harris are being inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The ceremony happens in April in Oklahoma City. They’re joining legends like George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Kurt Russell, and Burt Reynolds. That is a hall with serious swagger. Cowboy hats optional. Legends required.

Catch The List, with Jonathan Knight weekday afternoon at 4:20. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
