The List for Thursday, September 1st, 2022

Welcome to The List,

Remember when an Internet campaign convinced the suits at “Saturday Night Live” to let Betty White host?  Well, a similar thing might happen for Carol Burnett. “SNL” asked fans on Twitter who they’d like to see host, and Carol got an avalanche of support. . Here’s the kicker:  If Carol does the show, she’ll be the oldest person who’s EVER hosted.  She’s 89 years old.  Betty was only 88 when SHE hosted. It could be NBC’s golden opportunity to snag some CBS viewers.  If they can stay up that late.

The Rock has been known to indulge in cheat meals that would KILL the average human being.  But he can do that because he’s so strict most of the time. Stephen Merchant, who directed The Rock in the movie “Fighting with My Family”, says that when he goes to restaurants with his friends, he brings his own food, and asks the cooks to heat it up for him.

At first I thought this was a joke…but, it’s not.   Yesterday, the first trailer dropped for the horror movie “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”. Christopher Robin returns to the Hundred Acre Wood he abandoned years ago . .He’s expecting everything to be just like he left it, but he’s so, so wrong.  Pooh and Piglet have gone FERAL . . . and it looks like they’ve offed Eeyore along the way.  See the trailer HERE

Are you an aspiring songwriter and just don’t know how to start the ball rolling?  Tyler Hubbard says If you want to get discovered in Nashville, start writing songs NOW.  That’s the advice from someone who knows a thing or two.  He has a hefty list of songwriting credits for Florida Georgia Line and other artists. And now he’s gone viral on TikTok with a video called “Tyler’s Top Five Beginner Songwriting Tips.”

Spoiler alert… just start! #songwritingtips

CBS is bringing back “New Year’s Eve Live:  Nashville’s Big Bash”.  The first announced performers are Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, Brooks & Dunn, and Zac Brown Band . . . and there WILL be more.  In addition to airing on CBS, it’ll also be streaming live and on Paramount+.

Ashley Judd wrote an essay for the “New York Times” about why it’s so important for families . . . even famous families . . . to be able to maintain privacy in the wake of a death.  Of course, in her case she’s talking about the tragic passing of her mother Naomi, who committed suicide in April.

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1

The List for Friday, March 27th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Carrie Underwood says her boys can sing, but she is not handing out tiny little record deals just because Mom can hit a note. Her oldest is already a mini-Carrie, super into music, but she says the music business can wait until he is older and knows who he is. One minute Mom is on stage in sequins, next minute she is making dinner like nothing happened. Country queen by night, casserole ninja by six.

Morgan Wallen says he is done hiding behind excuses, and that might be the most grown-up sentence he has ever said out loud. He told CMT that back then, there was always something to blame when things went sideways. Now he says if he messes up, it is on him. Accountability..

-----

Netflix just raised prices again, and at this point your streaming bill is starting to look like a car payment. The ad plan is now $8.99, standard is $19.99, and premium jumps to $26.99. Remember when cutting the cord was supposed to save money? Now we are all just paying cable prices with extra steps. Congrats, we played ourselves.

-----

The iHeartRadio Music Awards wrapped up last night, and if you are guessing who won everything, go ahead and say it with me. Taylor Swift. Again. Save everybody a few hours. Show up, wave, collect hardware, repeat.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
