The List for Thursday, September 16th 2021

Welcome to The List,

We start today with a message to YOU the fans, from Thomas Rhett  “Just wanted to say thank you very much for my 18th number #1 single at country radio. “Country Again” is the number #1 song in the country this week. And Me and Lennon are celebrating by watching ‘Moana’. So thank you to everyone, thank you to Country radio to everyone that’s ever streamed the song or downloaded it or told a friend about it. One of my favorites. I wrote this in my basement in the dead center of 2020 and never imagined that it would be the number 1 song in the country. So thank yall! Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything, for all the support.” Thomas wrote “Country Again” in his basement in the middle of the COVID lockdowns.

The List for Thursday, February 5th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Rumors are flying that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have allegedly set a wedding date. A so-called source says the planning is “military-level precise,” which tracks, because Taylor hates surprises and Travis runs NFL playbooks for a living. Pop music, professional football, and Hollywood elite all in one room. Locked down, protected, unforgettable. Basically the most intense group project ever attempted.

-----

Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison is launching a new dating show for people who want a “traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values.” Which apparently is now considered edgy programming. Somewhere, reality TV just gasped. This is not roses and drama. This is compatibility and emotional maturity.

-----

Before Luke Combs made it big, he had $200 left in his bank account. That money went toward mastering one song, “Hurricane.” He releases it, sells about 10,000 copies the first week, and uses the cash to finish the rest of the album. Then pitches it to labels. And that, kids, is how you bet on yourself and win.

-----

Toby Keith, Kenny Rogers, and Ed Harris are being inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The ceremony happens in April in Oklahoma City. They’re joining legends like George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Kurt Russell, and Burt Reynolds. That is a hall with serious swagger. Cowboy hats optional. Legends required.

Catch The List, with Jonathan Knight weekday afternoon at 4:20. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
