The List for Thursday, July 21st 2022

Welcome to The List,

Apparently, Hollywood and the various streaming services haven’t heard how bad the economy is, because movie stars are still getting MASSIVE payouts. Tom Cruiseis projected to earn $100 million for “Top Gun: Maverick” alone.  Of course that also includes profit participation and all those other perks.  But check out what these other stars are getting paid for their upcoming movies:

Dwayne Johnson, “Black Adam”. . . $22.5 million

Chris Hemsworth, “Extraction 2”. . . $20 million

Jason Momoa is getting $15 million for “Aquaman 2”. . . Eddie Murphyis getting the same for a fourth “Beverly Hills Cop”. . .

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is reportedly getting weight loss surgery next month.  She’s 275 pounds, and wants to slim down to 125.  She’s tried to lose weight through diet and exercise, but it’s not working.

—–

Miranda Lambert and Gwen Sebastian have finished their” summer camping” vacation.  Miranda shared photos that included a group pic on a river raft.  She wrote, “Thanks to Gwennie’s family for the great hang and high note to end on.  What an amazing trip.  Best summer ever.”

Was there a song or album you were obsessed with as a kid?  Lady A’s Charles Kelley remembers being 10 years old and listening to Nirvana’s album “Nevermind” over and over.  He says, quote, “Anytime I hear it I’m immediately teleported back.  The sound of it blew me away.”

—–

Henry Cavill quickly started to trend on Wednesday following a report that the actor could announce his return as Superman at the first San Diego Comic-Con event since the pandemic. News of Cavill’s possible appearance was mentioned in passing in a Deadline report on what to expect at the fan convention this weekend, but that was all that it took for Twitter to run wild.

The List for Thursday, December 18th 2025

Welcome to The List,

The Oscars are officially breaking up with ABC and moving in with YouTube. Starting in 2029, the Academy Awards will stream on YouTube, along with all the red-carpet chaos, through at least 2033. ABC still gets the show through the 100th Oscars in 2028, but after that, no channel flipping — you’re clicking a link.

Don’t expect to see Michael Bublé back in the spinning chair next season. He says he’s done with The Voice after dealing with online backlash and missing his family. An insider says the negative comments really took a toll, even though he loves the show and the crew. Sometimes the smoothest crooner in the room just wants to go home and be Dad.

-----

Blake Shelton shared the first time he brought Gwen Stefani home to Oklahoma and it blew her mind. Gwen, raised in Anaheim, saw Blake’s land and asked, “You own this?” Then she spotted a creek and said, “You can have that?” She thought rivers only came with national park admission. Blake called it one of the joys of his life. City girl meets country acreage…

Morgan Wallen is now the highest-selling country artist of all time. He just picked up 80 new certifications and officially crossed 240 million units sold. Luke Combs comes in at number two, Garth Brooks at number three. Let that sink in. Skipped awards shows, topped streaming, and now sits on the mountain. Morgan let the numbers do the talking and they did….loudly.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
