The List for Thursday, April 20th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Miranda Lambert tells Billboard magazine that she and Jelly Roll are writing new music together. Saying how she felt a connection to him as a kindred spirit.  He’s a great songwriter and was happy to hear their song DID make his new album. It’s fun to, this far into the game, to still collaborate and meet new people and this younger generation of artists who are emerging and learning new things from them and stay fresh. It feels cool to be part of that.”

A new tell-all book about the Royal Family claims money is the reason Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, are feuding. Royals’ reporter Robert Jobson claims King Charles refused to put Meghan Markle on the Royals payroll. He writes, “When the Queen asked Charles why he hadn’t given in, he told her that he wasn’t a bank.” …Kids…whatcha gonna do..am I right?

With the ‘Barbie’ movie coming out you HAD to see this coming…Retail Dive says Mattel and The Gap are teaming for a Barbie clothing collection. The new line will be available on the Gap’s website starting on May 23rd. A clothing collection based on Mattel’s Hot Wheel toys is also in development.

Lainey Wilson’s appearance on “Yellowstone” could win her an Emmy.  I’m not talking about her acting, though.  One of the songs she performed, “Smell Like Smoke”, was submitted for nomination in the Outstanding Music and Lyrics category.  Still no word on when the second half of season five will begin filming.

Luke Bryan was on Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Show”, and they listened to a song created by artificial intelligence.  It was supposed to be inspired by Luke’s music, but it wasn’t even close. On the bright side, if this is the future of A.I. music, real artists have nothing to worry about…and it didn’t say ANYTHING about…mama, trains, or trucks, or prison or getting drunk…

Last week we heard about the “Harry Potter” HBO TV series.  Now, there’s a “Twilight” TV series in the works. It’s still in the early stages so there’s no word if it’s a direct remake of the books or a spin-off. But, we can almost guarantee sparkly vampires…

The List for Thursday, December 18th 2025

Welcome to The List,

The Oscars are officially breaking up with ABC and moving in with YouTube. Starting in 2029, the Academy Awards will stream on YouTube, along with all the red-carpet chaos, through at least 2033. ABC still gets the show through the 100th Oscars in 2028, but after that, no channel flipping — you’re clicking a link.

Don’t expect to see Michael Bublé back in the spinning chair next season. He says he’s done with The Voice after dealing with online backlash and missing his family. An insider says the negative comments really took a toll, even though he loves the show and the crew. Sometimes the smoothest crooner in the room just wants to go home and be Dad.

-----

Blake Shelton shared the first time he brought Gwen Stefani home to Oklahoma and it blew her mind. Gwen, raised in Anaheim, saw Blake’s land and asked, “You own this?” Then she spotted a creek and said, “You can have that?” She thought rivers only came with national park admission. Blake called it one of the joys of his life. City girl meets country acreage…

Morgan Wallen is now the highest-selling country artist of all time. He just picked up 80 new certifications and officially crossed 240 million units sold. Luke Combs comes in at number two, Garth Brooks at number three. Let that sink in. Skipped awards shows, topped streaming, and now sits on the mountain. Morgan let the numbers do the talking and they did….loudly.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
