Welcome to The List,

Big news over the weekend was Comic Con and all things Marvel themed..and Walking Dead news…cosplay…with highlights this year centering around the  announcement of two new “Avengers” movies, the trailer for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, and news on Rick Grimes’ future in the “Walking Dead” universe.

Carrie Underwood shared an awesome “How it started – How it’s going” last Friday.  It begins with a throwback clip of herself as a kid singing the Patty Loveless 1993 hit “Blame It On Your Heart”.  Then it cuts to a grown-up Carrie doing the same song on the Grand Ole Opry.  It was a preview of her performance on Saturday’s “Opry Loves the ’90s”, which also featured Jimmie Allen, Cody Johnson, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, and Chris Young.

Actual drama on the Production set of FX’s “Justified”.  Filming was halted when two cars crashed onto the Chicago set, with the occupants SHOOTING at each other.  Justified: City Primeval was filming Wednesday night in Douglass Park on the city’s West Side when the two vehicles broke through the perimeter. No cast or crewmembers were hurt; star Timothy Olyphant was among those at the location.  Filming is slated to resume this week.

Luke Bryan was performing in Bristow, Virginia last Thursday, and he noticed a sign that said, “Luke, Strip it down for Grandma’s 85th Birthday.”  So rather than take it LITERALLY . . . he went over to grandma and serenaded her with a little of his 2015 song, “Strip It Down….

Fun news from the ‘House Of Mouse’ – Disney+ continues its experimentation with new versions of Moana, Encanto and several other hit musical movies. Last week, the streamer announced new “Sing-Along versions” of its classic movies so that fans can have a karaoke-style watch party. The first of these movies was released back in March, and two more were released on Friday, July 22. Several more will follow next month.

The Sing-Along versions of Moana and The Little Mermaid are streaming now on Disney+, and 2019 remake of The Lion King is coming on Friday, Aug. 5. These new versions show the lyrics on screen like a karaoke machine, inviting the audience to sing along to their favorite songs.

Kelsea Ballerini’s new album, “Subject to Change, drops September 23rd . . . and she’ll be promoting it with a tour that launches the next day.  The “Heartfirst Tour” will kick-off September 24th in New York City, and wrap October 14th Mashantucket, Connecticut.

The List for Friday, December 19th 2025

Welcome to The List,

Sad news from the NASCAR world. Greg Biffle, one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, has died at age 55 in a plane crash in North Carolina. Authorities say seven people were killed, including Biffle, his wife Cristina, and their two children. Beyond his racing success, Biffle was widely praised for his humanitarian work, especially helping communities after Hurricane Helene. The racing world is mourning a champion on and off the track.

-----

Tom Cruise is allegedly on a long, carefully planned mission to become Sir Tom Cruise. A source says this has been years in the making hosting events, shaking hands, embedding himself deep in the British film world. Apparently he knows exactly how the system works and he’s been playing the long game. At this point, don’t be shocked if the next Mission: Impossible ends with him bowing politely and accepting a sword tap on each shoulder.

-----

Miranda Lambert is developing a new TV series for Hulu inspired by her music and real-life friendships. The show centers on a messy female friendship, an escape from an abusive marriage, and a fresh start in a small Texas town that turns out to be full of secrets. So basically heartbreak, healing, strong women, and Texas drama which is already Miranda’s brand. Country music meets prestige TV.

------

Jon Pardi says Christmas music is what keeps his household sane. He’s got two little girls with very big emotions, so songs like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph are on constant rotation. Forget parenting books the real hack is letting a cartoon reindeer handle crowd control..

You can catch The List, weekday afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
