The List for Monday, December 19th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Eli Young Band’s Mike Eli speaks up about the one and ONLY thing he just HATES about the Christmas holiday….the glitter … “I live in a house full of girls and they like glitter and that’s just one of those things that is a part of the holidays. For better or for worse, when glitter starts floating around, I kind of give a little eye roll to Christmas. Because that is the only thing that I don’t like about Christmas is glitter.” Adding, it takes six to seven months before you ever get rid of all of it.

The world was shocked to learn the news of Kirstie Alley’s death, a couple weeks ago. Not long after, the 71-year-old actress’ representatives confirmed her cause of death was colon cancer, which she had secretly battled for a while. The rep revealed the type of cancer to PEOPLE on Tuesday morning; Alley’s children, True and Lillie Parker, had previously announced that she had “only recently discovered” the cancer.

Thomas Rhett tells E! News that he gets the best feedback from his family. He says “Family is the one who is going to tell you if the song [stinks] or not … whether they come over to the house to swim or we’re going to the farm to hang out, my brothers-in-law are big about, ‘Play me the new stuff! Keep playing these songs.'”

Jackson Dean tells Songwriter Universe magazine that his hit “Don’t Come Lookin’” started from NOTHING literally.  The song didn’t have any lyrics at all.  It had the stomp and the attitude but no words, as it turns out…it was something he used to say to his mom before he left the house for a couple of days or go out in the woods for a little while. She would say, ‘Stay within earshot or stay alive no matter what occurs.’ I’d go, ‘Momma, if I don’t come back, don’t come looking for me.’ It was one of those where it came together.”

TMZ says Sharon Osbourn recently fell ill while taping a TV show in Santa Paula, California. She was then transported to a local medical facility for treatment before being released. Sharon and her team have not made a statement on what the medical emergency was.  But over the weekend her son Jack posted that SHE will post to what  happend when she’s ready.

Ace Showbiz says Kate Hudson gave the gift of astrology for Christmas last year. She says, she gave everybody in her family their year in astrology. She gave them crystals; and gave them all a piece of jewelry they could wear that was very specific to them, and had someone give them each an astrological reading.”

The List for Thursday, February 12th 2026

Welcome to The List,

We are saddened to report that James Van Der Beek has passed away at the age of 48 after battling stage 3 colorectal cancer. His family confirmed the news on social media, sharing that he had been fighting the disease since August 2023. Van Der Beek became a household name as Dawson Leery on Dawson's Creek, a show that defined a generation of television. He leaves behind his wife and six children. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans.

Players on the winning Super Bowl team get $178,000 from the NFL. But Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold could reportedly lose money because of California’s “jock tax.” Out-of-state players get taxed based on duty days spent in the state. With his massive contract and bonuses, estimates say he could owe between $200,000 and $250,000. Win the ring, lose to taxes. Classic.

-----

Luke Combs just revealed the full 22-song tracklist for his new album The Way I Am. It includes a duet with Alison Krauss. And a song written by Cody Johnson. Twenty-two songs is not an album. That is a weekend.

-----

Kelly Clarkson is reportedly ending her talk show and says she has no regrets. Sources say it is about quality of life, not money. She is excited, but sad to leave staff she considers family. Sometimes success is not about doing more. It is about breathing again.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
