The List for Friday, April 28th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Jelly Roll won’t let his soaring popularity get in the way of his main objective:  Helping people who are struggling, just like he was. Last year, Jelly donated $250,000 to support youth who were locked-up at Nashville’s Davidson County Detention Center . . . a facility where HE spent time as a teen.  And there’s more where that came from. In an interview with the “New York Times”, he says, “That’s not even scratching the surface of my plan.  I’m going to build halfway houses and transitional centers.  That’s my real heart.”

They announced the first-round performers for next month’s ACMs.  They include Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Jelly Roll, Morgan Wallen, Ashley McBryde, Keith Urban, Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson. The “58th Academy of Country Music Awards” is going down May 11th.  It’s being held for the first time in Frisco, Texas and it’ll air on Prime Video.

Baller Alert says Floyd Mayweather is denying reports he recently purchased a diamond encrusted baseball cap, with his logo, for $1 million. He instagrammed,  “I don’t know who started the rumor that my hat was a million dollars. But it was 30K.” In another post, Mayweather added, “30K is still a pricey number for a Snapback.”

The Wrap says Vince Vaughn has agreed to star in the sequel to “Dodgeball”. The original film was released in 2004 and starred Vince and Ben Stiller as rival gym owners. (DROP) The sequel’s description reads: “It will continue the story of Vaughn’s prize-winning gym”. It was a fun movie, it was a reminder that if a wrench is flying toward you..you should duck.

John Krasinski is working on a movie right now called “If”.  It’s about a young girl who starts seeing everyone’s imaginary friends who’ve been left behind after their “humans” grew up. And it’s got a voice cast that’s RIDICULOUSLY stacked.  It includes: Matt Damon, Jon Stewart, Emily Blunt, Maya Rudolph, and many others.  John says, quote, “This cast is insane.  I know for a fact that I will never get a better cast.”. It sounds more interesting than a live action ‘Little Mermaid’.

And finally, with all the other things that are happening in the Judd family since Naomi’s suicide. NOW Pop Culture magazine says her former manager, Michael Dolan, is suing her estate for unpaid commissions. Judd’s estate has yet to comment on the lawsuit. Dolan says he’s owed a 6% commission for managing Judd’s career.

The List for Thursday, February 19th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Travis Kelce is out here setting expectations so high the rest of us are gonna get yelled at for bringing home gas station flowers. He’s reportedly spent $141,000 on pre-wedding gifts for Taylor Swift, including Rolex watches, designer jackets, and daily flower deliveries. Daily. Meanwhile, I forgot my anniversary once and tried to fix it with a breakfast burrito. Travis Kelce just ruined relationships for every man in America.

-----

Lainey Wilson is teasing new music, and the title might be the most Lainey Wilson thing ever. The new single is called “Can’t Sit Still,” which tracks, because she’s been everywhere except my back yard party. She says her friends describe her as “a suitcase with legs,” which honestly sounds like Delta Airlines lost her twice already. No official release date yet, but she says it’s coming “real soon,” so prepare your playlists accordingly.

-----

Bunnie XO just revealed she thought Jelly Roll was a jerk when they first met, which proves once again women love a fixer-upper. She said he had “teddy bear with teeth energy” and sad eyes, and she basically looked at him like a home improvement project from HGTV. Fast forward to now, they’re one of Country music’s biggest power couples. Moral of the story, sometimes the guy who ignores you becomes your husband.

-----

The new Mummy reboot is ditching the Tom Cruise action vibe and going straight for emotional damage. This one’s from the director of Evil Dead Rise, so instead of running from explosions, you’ll be running from your own nightmares. It’s about a girl who disappears and comes back after spending quality time inside a 3,000-year-old coffin. It hits theaters April 17th, and I’ll be watching it from the safety of daylight and denial.

You can catch The List, this afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
