Winners will be announced on December 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.

Our fourth winner for the Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack is 1st grade teacher at Rogers Elementary in Marshalltown, Jodi Kolbe. She was nominated by school secretary, Mary Verdugo. Here is the nomination letter:

Hi guys, My name is Mary Verdugo. I am the school secretary at Rogers Elementary, I could give you a list of most of our teachers that go beyond to have what we need for our kids and that make their room a wonderful environment for our students, but today I will give you a name - Jodi Kolbe. Jodi has had a hard summer losing a loved one and still being there for her students -- or her kids as she calls them. She is awesome and she has purchased, like many of our teachers, many things out of her pocket to have things that her students need. So I nominate her for the pack the backpack.

Our third winner for the Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack is 6th grade teacher at Lenihan Intermediate Elementary in Marshalltown, Carrie Bohan. She was nominated by her husband, Mark Bohan, who is also a teacher. Here is the nomination letter:

Good afternoon,

I know I'm biased, but Carrie Bohan teaches 6th grade and Lenihan Intermediate here in town. She consistently picks up things for kiddos that can't afford supplies and does so without giving a second thought to doing so. She cares for her kids like they were her own and by the end of the year has a group she can be proud of. She's in it for the right reasons and is the type of teacher you can be proud to have teaching your kids.

Our second winner for the Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack is 2nd grade teacher at East Marshall Elementary, Carol Meyer. She was nominated by Denae Neisess, a parent of one of the students in her class. Here is the nomination letter:

Good morning!

I’d like to nominate Mrs. Meyer, second grade teacher at East Marshall Elementary. She has been in teaching for over 20 years. Most of those years were as a Kindergarten teacher. Two years ago she took on the challenge of leaving her comfort zone and taking on second grade. She had to start over in terms of lesson plans as well as supplies. She is a very positive role model to these kids/parents and takes a hands on approach to learning. With 26 students this year I think this would be a nice pick me up and give her and the students something extra that is very much deserved.
