And I still throw here and there, but I was getting pretty serious on it.   working in the yard, and just doing everything under the sun in between doing FGL stuff, Trying to stay physically healthy too, and bike rides, trail rides and all that stuff." Sounds like he has a handle on it, I’ve been stayin in shape I think…round IS a shape right?

Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus says the band has had a real impact on the lives of some of their fans. “It was wonderful to see the outpouring of love for our music and what we’ve meant to their lives. And that’s been one of the great things about this band, I think, is we’ve always been able to find songs that really do resonate and last throughout the changing times.” Who hasn’t been to a graduation that they played ‘My Wish’ or a wedding that played ‘Broken Road’

Mark Wahlberg will turn 50 this June. He says he’s looking forward to  partying with his family and friends. “You know it is a big one, I can’t believe I’m turning 50 but sometimes because of the grind and everything I passed 50 along time ago.”  Even at 50 Mark still gets up at 2 am to workout in his gym, and support his like of health products that you see in HyVee.

a Superman comic recently sold for $3.25 million. The comic was published in 1938 and explains how Superman came to Earth from another planet. The previous record for a comic sale was $ 3.2 million.

Ace Showbiz says Chris Hemsworth is trying to convince Russell Crowe to make a sequel to ''Gladiator''. A source says Chris wants to produce the film. "Chris is in awe of Russell. Welcome to The List,

Thomas Rhett Says His Father, Rhett Akins, Is His Favorite Songwriting Partner ... "My favorite person to write with, as a whole, I think is my dad. Even though I write with a bunch of other people, my dad and I do have a pretty special bond. Probably because he’s my dad, but he’s also, like, a really good friend of mine and a really fun co-writer."

Kelsea Ballerini is on this months cover of Shape Magazine, she talks to Kelly Clarkson about her fitness and how wine is ok sometimes and what it’s like to sit in her chair on The Voice. “I just has goosebumps most of the time. Just the talent is really crazy this season.” She also thinks Blake hates her now because Kelly told her to keep him ‘in check’

"The Walking Dead" Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan dishes on filming Negan's origin story for The Walking Dead season finale and living in a house on the set. “I lived in Alexandria, the town that has the 30 foot walls around it.  We had a house in there we use, it’s the ‘Rick Grimes’ house. My sons room had like shotgun spray on his closet door, in the living room there’s marks from ‘Lucile’ when I was in a fight with Rick. All those things were still there, and then they put a bunch of furniture in there and that’s were we lived for two months while we shot this thing.”

Screen Rant reports a THIRD Creed movie is in the works, Michael B Jordan is going to star as well as direct.  A fan asked Sylvester Stallone if he was going to be IN the movie and he said ‘It will be done, but I won’t be in it.’ And added ‘Keep Punching”

The List for Monday, April 5th 2021

Welcome to The List,

Kelsea Ballerini was filling in for Kelly on “The Voice” while she was sick. Behind the scenes it was a pretty quick turn around “Kelly called me at 7pm Nashville time and they were shooting the next day at 1pm in LA. On the flight over she sent me all the blind auditions, everyone on her team what she loved what she was looking for.  So, as soon as I landed, you just downloaded all of your incredible knowledge.” Kelsea said it was like going back to college and cramming for an exam.

Carrie Underwood talks about her new gospel Album, 'My Savior' and how scary and hopeful it was in the making. “I feel like the entire time, that we were making the album, I felt like I was praying the whole time. It was all just so hopeful, inspirational and joyful. In such a time when there’s so much fear and having no idea what was around the corner or what the next month or week would bring. Getting to work on this music was peaceful to me.” Carrie livestreamed a concert featuring her new album from the historic Ryman auditorium in Nashville and raised over 68-thousand dollars for the charity ‘Save The Children’  if you’d like to see the livestream concert it’s available for free for the next 48 hours on Carrie Underwood's Facebook page.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier Anthony Mackie And Sebastian Stan were on the Kelly Clarkson show and Sebastian shares something about Anthony, “ There’s a big, big soft side behind that mountain, and I’ve seen it…I’ve seen it.  sometimes it comes out.” Anthony wishes Sebastian wasn't such a hermit…ah, the love…can’t ya just feel it….

And who knew!  There’s a new “Fresh Prince of Belair” in the works but Alfonso Ribeiro tells Hollywoodlife.com that HE has no plans to be a part of it.  Adding, it’s NOT a re-boot but a reimagining.  A completely different show with none of us really involved in it.

The List for Friday, April 2nd 2021

Welcome to The List,

Tenille Arts has a new song called "Somebody Like That" she says it was nerve-wracking ... “I don’t know that it ever stops being like nerve-wracking and exciting.  But, I didn’t know how to feel the night of the release. We had a party and I performed the entire album and it was really really fun but then it was just kinda like ‘Oh, it’s out there now’. Like, that’s it, but then I started thinking about all the fun things I could do now that the albums out.” Her new song “Somebody Like That’ is the third single from her second album ‘Love Heartbreak, & Everything In Between’ and is available now.

Easton Corbin multi hit maker, big shows, but there’s something I always wanted to know…were did his parents get his name ‘Easton’? Was he named after Philadelphia Phillies player John Easton? “I have no idea, were my parents got my name from my dad never played baseball my mom never cared about baseball. So, I have no clue, I was I think born the day after Easter I don’t know if that has something to do with it…um yeah, I have no clue.” I guess that kinda answers that?  Yeah, we’ll just go with that one…

Ace Showbiz says Ariana Grande is lining up to get a huge pay day from “The Voice” next season…she’s getting paid between $20 and $25 million to be a coach.  While Kelly Clarkson earns $15 million while John Legend and Blake Shelton each earn $13 million a season

Michael Strahan posted a video where a dentist fixed the gap between his front teeth….”I gotta thank my boy Dr. Lee at Smile Design Manhattan, for taking care of me and I’m happy that I did it.” Turns out it was an April Fools joke…So, I just wanted to say…April Fools, Come on man!! The gap is here to stay.” Yeah, why would you want to fix something like that….big ole gap in your teeth

The List for Thursday, April 1st 2021

Welcome to The List –

Blake Shelton says he and Gwen hope to get married this summer and everyone under the sun wants to sing at it.  “We really don’t know, I’d love to be able to take everybody up on their offer and have this amazing concert wedding but.  You know how it is, we’re just waiting every day just like everyone else to see what our summer’s going to look like and go from there.” Blake jokes that so many artists want to sing at his wedding that it is starting to sound like Coachella.  But definitely sometime before the fall season of The Voice.

Dierks Bentley has the ultimate stress reliever in a marriage…he tells People magazine that he uses paintball as couple's therapy.  He says $30, it’s money well spent, especially if your wife, you know you’ve been kind of a jerk, or she needs to take some stuff out on you on a way that’s not going to kill you.” Paintball….

It’s opening day for Baseball and one of the biggest baseball movies ‘Field Of Dreams’ celebrated it’s 30th anniversary and Kevin Costner thinks the film is much more that just a movie about baseball he thinks it’s this generation’s ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ “So much about relationships with your father go unsaid and you gotta break that cycle or your going to need the field of dreams to remind you of what you missed.”

If you're a Knives Out fan, get ready because more are coming! Netflix acquired Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3 for a whopping $450 million, making this one of the largest deals ever made for the rights to a movie series. These films bring a little something new to the streaming platform as the competition continues with others like HBO Max, Apple TV, and Disney+.

The List for Wednesday, March 31st 2021

Welcome to The List –

Gabby Barrett Has a hit record under her belt with ‘Goldmine’ with songs like ‘I Hope’ and ‘The Good Ones’ climbing the charts. But there is one song that she has always loved and that’s Dolly Parton's "Jolene" “I started singing that song when I was just starting, because I absolutely loved it around eleven or twelve. I started singing around nine in a gospel choir and I started performing when I was eleven.  But I’ve always loved that song.”

Matt Thomas of Parmalee says their song ‘Just The Way’ is about telling people that they are fine the way they are.  Here, he talks about walking onto the set of the music video. “We were all blown away, the colors the set, the cast just the whole thing was just mind blowing from the moment we walked in. It’s pretty emotional at times too, It was amazing.”

Mark Wahlberg likes to start his day early…like 2 A.M. early..but it can get him into trouble sometimes.“For me, the earlier I get up the more I get accomplished before I gotta get the kids up for school, then I can start the rest of my day. Getting to bed early and getting up early, it annoys my wife every once in a while, we were watching a movie last night and I fell asleep mid-way through the movie.”

Godzilla Vs Kong is finally out in theaters and streaming today and Alexander Skarsgard plays Dr. Nathan Lind, He says the battle between Kong and Godzilla is unique. “They’re animals, they’re not good or bad. They do what animals do.  The reason they go after each other King Kong and Godzilla is because they’re both Alpha, they’re both apex predators and their can be only one alpha.” Kong Vs. Godzilla is now in theaters and streaming on HBO Max

March Pack the Backpack Winner: Mrs. Randi Davis

Pack the Backpack, presented by Central Office Supply, a division of Minuteman and Kix 101.1! Each month during the school year, we will be awarding $101 to a Kix Country classroom to help out with supplies. We will award the prize on the last Wednesday of the month. You can listen to each new winner at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.

Our March winner is Mrs. Randi Davis, 3/4 Multiage Teacher at Nevada Elementary. She was nominated by Dawn Hansen – Parent (her Daughter is in Mrs. Davis’ class).

Since the beginning of 2020/2021 School Year, Central Elementary in Nevada has offered full time in person learning. Like many things in this country, this did not come without criticism and questions. Our Nevada teachers, including Mrs. Davis (3/4 Multiage Teacher), lunch workers, and all other staff have stepped up to the plate to ensure children are being given the education, nutrition, and stability they need!

Mrs. Davis specifically has continued to foster a positive environment for ALL of her students by connecting, challenging, and love each of them. Additionally, Mrs. Davis has gone above and beyond to ensure our children feel safe and are safe during every school day. Finally, Mrs. Davis uses technology, learning techniques, and research to ensure that all of her students are given the tools they need to succeed.

If I could nominate every staff member of the Nevada Community School District I would, but you limit us to one 🤣.

Thank you for this great opportunity and chance to brag about just one of our great NCSD staff members.

-Dawn Hansen

Take a listen below to our interview with Mrs. Davis!

Nominate your Kix Country class by submitting a letter to us at backpack@kixweb.com.
