The List for Monday, May 2nd 2022

Welcome to The List,

Even the most famous can experience bad service…Chris Janson taking to Twitter of the weekend “Just tried to feed the family after the show in Brentwood TN at the Waffle House and got asked to leave for wearing overalls. Bad vibes, I can buy a boat but evidently not a waffle. Hope the waitress finds some good vibes of her own.

The list of ‘Most Annoying Celebs of 2022” is out and some may THINK it’s “A Kardashian” or JLo…but no…out of the top 10 ranked. The Rock made the top 5 along with Lady Gaga…number ONE on the list of “Most Annoying Celebs 2022” would go to Will Smith…for probably obvious reasons.  I think may be put Jada Pinkett on there as well.

-----

Mother’s Day is coming up quick, have YOU made plans with mom?  Blake Shelton says he wouldn’t be where he is today without his mom. “She started talking me into performing in these like…pageants. And talent contest.  I was a kid you know.” Don’t forget mom on her special day…

-----

Collider magazine says Lionsgate is developing a sequel to ''Dirty Dancing''. The film will star Jennifer Gray and will follow her character as she returns to the resort where she met Patrick Swayze. No word on a release date. Or why they’re doing a re-boot…

-----

Last week we talked about Morgan Wallen’s new song ‘Don’t Think Jesus” well, he performed his new LIVE for the first time at a concert in Green Bay last Thursday night.  Also, they just announced he'll be performing at the Billboard Music Awards on May 15th.

-----

The animated flick, "Bad Guys" is enjoying one last weekend being at the top of the box office.  "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" comes out Friday.  Speaking of "Doctor Strange", John Krasinski is apparently in the new movie according to an alleged leak.

The List for Friday, April 29th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Last year when Morgan Wallen got into some hot water and was ‘cancelled’ Jason Aldean stepped in to help his friend. Saying "Where I'm from, when you got a friend that's down, you help them get back on their feet and teach 'em, and try to help them be better. He does think Morgan's punishment was "a little excessive" . . . but at the same time he learned from it, and that's always good.

The anticipated Walking Dead Spin-off that focuses on Daryl and Carol will happen…but not with Carol….It's going to film in Europe, and unfortunately Melisa McBride can't commit to the move just yet. The show is expected to carry on with just Norman Reedus as Daryl, but there's no word if a  different  "Walking Dead" character will take Melissa's place.  On the bright side, it sounds like we haven't seen the last of her.

-----

Maren Morris tells CMT that she loves to listen to music while cooking. "She’ll put on some music while cooking and just get lost in it. There have been times where I've almost burned things because I was so caught up in what I was listening to Be listening this Sunday when Maren Morris’s husband Ryan Hurd joins John Ritter Sunday on ‘Rise Up’ at 7am…

-----

Andrew Garfield is taking a break from acting to rest and recalibrate.  He wants to be a "bit ordinary" for a while and take time to consider what he does next. Andrew says he's tired from awards season. Yeah, all that hanging out with young starlets and latenight parties could wear ya out. I wonder…is ‘ordinary’ brooding all day and watching Netflix?

The NY Post claims a petition, to have Amber Heard removed from ''Aquaman 2'', has garnered over 2 million digital signatures. The petition reads: ''Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit.  It references physical altercations that resulted in Depp getting his finger reattached as well as other physical confrontations.

The List for Thursday, April 28th 2022

Welcome to The List,

The Johnny Depp – Amber Heard trial continues…A forensic psychologist testified yesterday that Amber Heard suffers from borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder.  This means she could present as "cute and girlish," but actually be, quote, "very destructive . . . dramatic, erratic, and unpredictable." Shannon Curry interviewed Amber for 12 hours, and also read through her mental health records.  She testified that anyone in a relationship with someone suffering from those conditions would likely see themselves go from, quote, "idolized to dumpster fire."

Betty White's longtime home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles is on the market four months after the actress's death at 99.  The 1952 home, which is more than 3,000 square feet and has five bedrooms and 6 baths, is listed for $10.5 million Sotheby's International Realty – Pacific Palisades Brokerage. The Hollywood legend and her late husband Allen Ludden bought the property in 1968,

Andrew Woolfolk -- the longtime saxophonist for Earth, Wind & Fire, and one of the OG members through their historic run -- has sadly passed. The veteran musician, who joined Earth Wind and Fire in 1972, passed Sunday after battling a long illness he'd been afflicted with for at least six years ... this according to the band's lead singer, Philip Bailey.  He was with Earth, Wind & Fire through their most formative and influential years in music -- having contributed to some of their biggest hits.

-----

Does MORGAN WALLEN make good music, or what?  "Don't Think Jesus" has debuted at the top of the "Billboard" Hot Country Songs chart, and that's historic.  He's now the first artist to have three songs debut at Number One on that chart.  His other two were "Wasted on You" and "7 Summers".

You know you're good when you cover someone else's song, and they bow down to you.  Metaphorically.  Luke Combs posted a clip of himself doing an acoustic version of Jordan Davis' "Buy Dirt".  Jordan saw it and commented, "Damn, I thought I sang this one pretty good.  You crushed this, buddy."

The List for Wednesday, April 27th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Cary Elwes from "The Princess Bride" had to be airlifted to the hospital after getting bitten on the finger by a rattlesnake on Saturday.  He's recovering well and commented "Bit not by a R.O.U.S. but a rattlesnake.   An R.O.U.S. is a creature from "Princess Bride".  It stands for Rodents of Unusual Size.

A video of Darius Rucker shouting "[eff] Tennessee" has gone viral.  It was during a free concert on Sunday that honored the University of South Carolina women's basketball team.  During his performance of "Wagon Wheel"  Instead of singing "from the Cumberland Gap to Johnson City, Tennessee" . . . they all belted out "from the Cumberland Gap to [Eff], Tennessee."

-----

Director James Gunn went to bat for Chris Pratt on Twitter when a bunch of people randomly called for Chris Pratt's Star-Lord character from "Guardians of the Galaxy" to be recast.  Well, director James Gunn wasn't having any of it.  James replied, "For what?  Because of your made-up, utterly-false beliefs about him?  For something that someone else told you about him that's not true?  Chris would never be replaced as Star-Lord but, if he ever was, we would all be going with him."

-----

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department has released police bodycam footage of the moments following the shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust.  Search warrants later revealed that the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, loaded the Colt .45 believing a real bullet was a dummy round. She then handed the weapon to first assistant director who skipped the customary safety run-through.

-----

Strong will and determination to make it…that’s what it takes.  Just ask Luke Bryan about long hard days….  In an interview on Apple Music Country, Luke talked about working at his dad's peanut mill after college.  They were 15-hour days that left him so wrung out it felt like he'd been in a gang fight.  And yet, he still played concerts on the weekends with his lungs full of peanut dust….

The Verge says famed director JJ Abrams is teaming with Warner Brothers for a new live action Hot Wheels movie. Plot details are being kept a secret

April Pack the Backpack Winner: Mrs. Jane Bauman

Pack the Backpack, presented by Central Office Supply, a division of Minuteman and Kix 101.1! Each month during the school year, we will be awarding $101 to a Kix Country classroom to help out with supplies. We will award the prize on the last Wednesday of the month. You can listen to each new winner at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.

Our April winner is 4th Grade Teacher at Roland-Story Elementary, Mrs. Jane Bauman. She was nominated by Felicia Lucas, a parent who wrote to Kix 101.1.:

My 4th grader has Mrs. Bauman at Roland-Story Elementary this year. Riley comes home everyday and tells me about how Mrs. Bauman makes every lesson “so much fun”. But, what stuck out in my mind the most is a lesson that will stay with Riley for the rest of her life.

“Everyone makes mistakes.” It’s only the 3rd week of school and Mrs. Bauman has already instilled in these little minds that everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect and we can always be forgiven. That’s a lesson even adults have trouble with and I think it’s such a wonderful thing she is incorporating it into their everyday classroom experience.

-Felicia Lucas

Take a listen to our surprise interview with Mrs. Jane Bauman below!

Nominate your Kix Country class by submitting a letter to us at backpack@kixweb.com.
