The List for Thursday, April 20th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Miranda Lambert tells Billboard magazine that she and Jelly Roll are writing new music together. Saying how she felt a connection to him as a kindred spirit.  He’s a great songwriter and was happy to hear their song DID make his new album. It’s fun to, this far into the game, to still collaborate and meet new people and this younger generation of artists who are emerging and learning new things from them and stay fresh. It feels cool to be part of that.”

A new tell-all book about the Royal Family claims money is the reason Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, are feuding. Royals’ reporter Robert Jobson claims King Charles refused to put Meghan Markle on the Royals payroll. He writes, "When the Queen asked Charles why he hadn't given in, he told her that he wasn't a bank." …Kids…whatcha gonna do..am I right?

-----

With the ‘Barbie’ movie coming out you HAD to see this coming…Retail Dive says Mattel and The Gap are teaming for a Barbie clothing collection. The new line will be available on the Gap's website starting on May 23rd. A clothing collection based on Mattel's Hot Wheel toys is also in development.

-----

Lainey Wilson's appearance on "Yellowstone" could win her an Emmy.  I'm not talking about her acting, though.  One of the songs she performed, "Smell Like Smoke", was submitted for nomination in the Outstanding Music and Lyrics category.  Still no word on when the second half of season five will begin filming.

-----

Luke Bryan was on Tuesday's "Jimmy Kimmel Show", and they listened to a song created by artificial intelligence.  It was supposed to be inspired by Luke's music, but it wasn't even close. On the bright side, if this is the future of A.I. music, real artists have nothing to worry about…and it didn’t say ANYTHING about…mama, trains, or trucks, or prison or getting drunk…

-----

Last week we heard about the "Harry Potter" HBO TV series.  Now, there's a "Twilight" TV series in the works. It's still in the early stages so there's no word if it's a direct remake of the books or a spin-off. But, we can almost guarantee sparkly vampires…

The List for Wednesday, April 19th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Talk about the end of an era:  Big news from Netflix…they’re ending their DVD-by-mail business after 25 years.  And yes, people ARE still getting DVDs by mail from Netflix.  But not for much longer. The last of those red envelopes will be mailed out September 29th . . . and will have to be returned by October 27th. Netflix also announced that they'll be phasing in their "paid sharing" plan in the coming weeks . . . which is a less aggressive way to say that they're cracking down on password sharing.

Walker Hayes and his family went on a mission trip to Rwanda last month.  They were invited by the faith-based nonprofit HOPE International.  They helped families pick coffee beans, haul water from distant wells, and work the fields.  Walker said every day of the trip was the best day of his life.

-----

"America's Got Talent" finalist Drake Milligan was injured in a car crash in Texas on Sunday.  A tire from another vehicle hit his tour van, and the van slammed into a concrete median.  But luckily, it doesn't sound too serious. He and a few bandmates went to the hospital, but he posted an update on Instagram and said everyone's okay.

-----

OK! magazine claims Ben Affleck is allegedly trying to keep things civil between Jennifer Lopez and his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. A source tells the magazine that Garner upset Lopez when she said she tries to keep her family out of the media. "It's Jennifer's way of saying Ben looks miserable and all his appearances in public are lame. How could J.Lo not take it personally? But, she’s not taking the bait so Ben has to play referee…

-----

A feature-length documentary on Wynonna Judd called "Between Hell and Hallelujah" will debut on Paramount+ next Wednesday.  It's about how Wynonna is adapting . . . following the death of her mother, Naomi.  The first anniversary of her death is NEXT Saturday, four days after the premiere.

-----

The HARDY WE know almost wasn’t, He tells Forbes magazine that he wasn't sure if he wanted a record deal. Saying he went in there and half the record label is in the room. And they said, ‘We’re offering you a record deal.’ I was like oh God, because I was still apprehensive. I just didn’t know what it would entail. I was very, very content with the way my life was going." I think we’re glad he signed…

The List for Tuesday, April 18th 2023

Welcome to The List,

When King Charles is crowned on May 6th, it'll be only the second televised coronation in U.K. history, and the first to be streamed.  A 17th Century crown will be placed on his head, and he'll be presented with some of the Crown Jewels. Live coverage begins at 7:00 a.m. local time, There will be a procession to Westminster Abbey, where the coronation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Charles' wife, Queen Consort Camilla, will also be crowned . . . and she gets a ring and two scepters of her own. Then they head back to Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach, which has been used for every coronation since King William the Fourth's in 1831.

-----

There are NEW reports of trouble on the set of "Yellowstone" . . . and if you're a fan, you won't want to hear them. So-called "sources" are saying that the show will END after the second half of Season 5 . . . because Kevin Costner just can't get along with the show's creator, Taylor Sheridan. But it sounds like it's not Kevin's fault.  The first half of Season 5 ended in January. There's no word when the second half will air . . . or even when it'll start filming.

-----

Kenny Chesney was asked when we'll be hearing new music.  He said he's working on it, but NOT rushing things.  After all, he's earned the right to take his time. "It's easy to rush it and it's easy to put music out when people think it might be time, but I think I've earned the right to get it right.  I mean, I love it now, but I want to be in love."  Adding he feels lucky not to have a lot of ‘yes’ people in his camp. He has a lot of people around him that have really good song sense.

-----

There comes a time for some artists that it doesn’t look like music will pan out…but you keep pluggin…just ask Corey Kent…“Luckily, I had a family that had an opportunity for me to go work at a pavement company.  I took that opportunity, the way I was raised you always take the work that’s given to ya.. so I was working and writing down shows trying to juggle both things and trying to build back up to a point where music could be sustainable again”.  So, no matter how bad it gets…never give up on a dream.

-----

Tyler Hubbard tells Billboard magazine that it was hard to adjust to being on his own.  Saying after 12 years of being a ‘WE’ to a just ME I have to take full responsibility for every decision, full responsibility for my own destiny, I don’t have anybody else to blame anything on.  There’s a lot of freedom and fun in stepping into this new season.

-----

And lastly, Kelly Ripa tells Entertainment Weekly that she has been thinking about retirement. “Every time you get a new cohost, it’s like a little jolt of energy. But to be clear, I am always thinking about retiring.
