Carly Pearce may be dating her drummer.  She's been posting photos of them together, and it sure looks they're more than just bandmates.  She hasn't confirmed it, though.. Usually it’s the drummers….always the drummers….

-----

There's no stopping Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town"It's now sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S., which makes it the fourth highest-selling song of 2023.  And there's a lot of 2023 left. It's dominating the charts too.  It debuted at Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100.  That's the highest Jason has EVER been on the all-genre pop chart. -----

Jon Pardi puts in perspective how easy being an entertainer really is versus a “real job” Saying he always jokes about waiting around all day to do a sound check and then play two hours so they only work three hours. Compare that to working on a farm. Waking up at 5:30 a.m. to drive an hour to go hop on a tractor and it's been 10 hours sweating. Now do that six days a week. That's real work.

-----

Radar Online claims Tim McGraw and Faith Hill won't be doing another season of ''1883'' because Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are allegedly doing another season of their Yellowstone spinoff, ''1923''. A source tells the website, "When producers learned Helen and Harrison were up for doing another season, they jumped at the chance.  Sadly, Tim and Faith don't have that kind of juice."

The List for Monday, July 24th 2023

Welcome to The List,

People are still debating whether or not those social media influencers were RIGHT or WRONG to take selfies during a Miranda Lambert concert earlier this month. Now, rapper and actor LL Cool J is weighing in:  And he's on TEAM SELFIE . . . sort of. He says Miranda should chill, and let fans be fans.  Quote, "Your job as an artist is to create art.  The way people choose to interact with that art . . . is up to them.

Jelly Roll has found himself in a place where he can give back.  He says he WANTS to be a giver for a very good reason. “The Jelly before the music was a scumbag, I was a horrible, horrible human.  I was a less than desirable human. I think that’s why I have such a heart for service now, and to help people because I was such a “Taker” for so long.  That I wanted to be a giver for the rest of my life” Adding he just wants to continue to be a voice for voiceless people.

-----

Stop the presses!!  That $1 Billion Powerball winner might be a fake!!: Business Insider says the Los Angeles woman, who claims she won last week's $1 billion Powerball jackpot, may be lying. The store that sold the winning ticket, the Las Palmitas Mini Market, says, "I'm not sure why she did that. I guess she just wanted to be on TV. We don't know who the winner is yet. They still haven't come forward.'

-----

Whiskey Riff says Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean's Nashville steakhouse has removed CMT from their televisions because CMT banned Jason's video for “Try That In A Small Town”. The E3 Chophouse released a statement saying, ''We stand with Jason! E3 supports the small town because that is who we are! We will not air CMT at any of our restaurants until a formal apology is made and Jason’s music video is reinstated.’

The List for Friday, July 21st 2023

Welcome to The List,

We start today with some sad news, Legendary singer Tony Bennett has passed… His publicist, Sylvia Weiner, confirmed Bennett's death to The Associated Press, saying that Bennett passed away in his hometown of New York.  As of now, there has been no specific cause of death announced, although Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2016. A performer for seven decades, Bennett played his last concert in 2021 at Radio City Music Hall with frequent collaborator and friend Lady Gaga…Tony Bennett was 96.

-----

Carly Pearce got served some humble pie this week, and had a good sense of humor about it.  She was on a Southwest flight on Wednesday when her "CMA Fest" set was airing on ABC. And apparently NO ONE on the plane knew who she was.  She was watching on her laptop and showed people while she walked around with it.  Whoever she was flying with filmed the whole thing….See the video HERE

-----

Nobody even had it on their radar, but "Sound of Freedom", a faith-based movie about human trafficking starring Jim Caviezel, just passed the $100 million mark.  And it only cost $15 million to make. He plays a Homeland Security agent who makes it his mission to find a girl in the jungles of Colombia and rescue her, and other children, from human traffickers. It continues to play in more and more theaters as cinema owners see its numbers and rush to carry it.  It'll be in 3,287 theaters this weekend, and could surpass "The Flash", which has earned $107 million.

-----

Movies in theaters this weekend are “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”.  Business Insider says the "Oppenheimer" IMAX film reel weighs 600 pounds and stretches 11 miles. The physical film is so massive that it can barely fit into IMAX's film projectors. Director Christopher Nolan says the three-hour movie was the "absolute limit" for an IMAX film print. It is the longest film that Nolan has ever made. Some movie goers have bought tickets to see BOTH movies back to back. It's a “Barbieheimer” weekend for some…or “Oppenbarbie”..or whatever…

-----

Jelly Roll recently granted a dying wish for a Madison, Tennessee woman. Suzanne Durham was diagnosed with untreatable lung cancer and given five months to live. Her dying wish was to meet Jelly Roll because she, like him, is a former addict, who turned her life around. Jelly Roll visited Suzanne in the hospital. He even performed a song.

-----

Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town" seems to be benefiting from all the controversy.  The song has over 3.8 million Spotify streams and reached Number One on iTune's Top Song chart.  The video has been the Top Trending Video on YouTube.

The List for Thursday, July 20th 2023

Welcome to The List,

The actor’s union SAG-AFTRA will allow 39 productions to continue shooting during the strike, since they're independent.  They include "Death of a Unicorn" . . . starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega as a father and daughter who run over a unicorn with their car…I would think these are the kinds of productions that PUT the writers out of a job to begin with.

-----

Netflix is changing…again…they’re getting rid of its "Basic" plan, which is the $9.99 ad-free tier.  The good news is, if you already have it, you can stay on it.  But new subscribers will have to choose a more expensive plan, or the ad-supported tier for $6.99..

-----

We're in Day Two (give or take) of the Jason Aldean "Try That in a Small Town" controversy, and sides have been chosen.  No surprise there.  With Donald Trump Jr giving props calling out the B.S. and Roseanne Barr tweeting “Jason's next song should be about virtue signaling white women freaking out over a country song while blasting gangster rap in their luxury SUVs as they drop their kids off at school.”

-----

When you look at Jelly Roll, what is the FIRST thing you notice…His tattoo’s right? Well he tells Billboard magazine that he wishes he could get rid of a lot of them in fact he says  “I'd get rid of around 96% of them I think.  No one has more tattoo regrets than I do.  How you think at 16 years old and how you think at 36 years old are so dramatically far apart from each other. It’s embarrassing."

-----

The International News says Joe Manganello is allegedly planning to ditch Hollywood now that he's divorcing Sofia Vergara. A source tells the website, "Joe was ever really comfortable in a giant Los Angeles mansion or on the beaches of Saint Tropez. I would not be shocked if he found some modest small town to settle down in. He misses the backyard barbecues and friend group he had in the early days of his career,  Well, Joe….we do that A LOT in Kix Country…the invite is open anytime.

-----

And finally, Travis Tritt is releasing his first-ever gospel album.  It's called "Country Chapel" and it comes out September 15th.

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
