The List for Tuesday, August 1st 2023

Welcome to The List,

Warner Brothers Japan is upset about "Barbenheimer" memes where people mix images from "Barbie" with atomic bomb explosions.  That kind of stuff hits differently for the Japanese, for obvious reasons.

-----

Luke Bryan tells CMT that he's having a hard time teaching his son how to drive. “He’s 15 so he’s doing the whole learner’s permit nightmare. He is not a very good driver right now, so we’re having to work with him pretty hard..I hear Alan Jackson has a pretty good record at teaching people how to…Drive…

-----

A pair of YouTubers tried to visit Cousin Eddie's house from the movie "Vacation", but the guy living there flipped out on them.  He said the movie sucks and they need to grow up, and wouldn't let them film there.

The Huffington Post says Kelly Clarkson was recently performing in Vegas when she addressed the trend of fans throwing things at performers on stage. She told her audience, “If you’re gonna throw, throw diamonds.” They laughed.

-----

For the first time in history, country artists have the top three songs on the Billboard Hot 100.  They are:  Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town" at Number One . . . followed by Morgan Wallen's "Last Night" . . . and Luke Combs' "Fast Car".

-----

Your average Kenny Chesney stadium show will have about 40,000 people hanging on his every word.  Contrast that to Kenny doing a pop-up show recently at Captain Tony's Saloon in Key West, Florida.  Kenny posted a clip yesterday of himself and his acoustic guitar doing "You and Tequila", and it couldn't have been more casual.  He's wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and a backwards ballcap . . . because he can. ..see the clip HERE.

The List for Monday, July 31st 2023

Welcome to The List,

Apparently, the Barbie movie is making quite the impression!  Because women are using it to screen your fitness as a potential mate.  So don't be surprised if an intended hookup subjects you to the Barbie Test.  "It's like the new question on a first date or your dating profile: 'What are your thoughts on the Barbie movie?'  "Because if a guy really doesn't want to see it or he's not open to talking about it or, what's even worse yet, if he's seen it and he thinks it's not a good movie or he doesn't get the point. He’s a no-go…

-----

59-year-old Craig Morgan has a second job, and I'm willing to bet it's way more important than yours.  On Saturday, he was sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve.  It happened on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. As you may know, Craig served 17 years in the Army.  With this reenlistment, he'll hold the rank of Staff Sergeant and is also a candidate for Warrant Officer. You can see the video HERE

The List for Friday, July 28th 2023

Welcome to The List,

You thought "Barbie" was a one-and-done?  Oh, no . . . Mattel has a TON of toy-based movies in the works as we speak.  Buzzfeed rounded them all up . . . and made POSTERS for them.  They include: "Barney", "Polly Pocket". . . "Hot Wheels" and "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots" just to name a few…

-----

A.I. is a huge concern of striking actors and writers.  But while they're demanding protections from artificial intelligence, the studios are secretly ramping up their A.I. capabilities, by looking to hire specialists.  The kicker is that many companies offering high-paying A.I. jobs have been CUTTING employees in other divisions.

 -----

How badly did Aaron Rodgers want to get out of Greenbay?  Well, he’s taking a $35 MILLOIN PAY CUT over the next two seasons just to play for the Jets.  He's making $75 million fully guaranteed . . . when he was due to make $110 million on his previous contract.

-----

I'm just going to throw this out there because it's so odd.  Jimmie Allen announced that he's doing a three-night comedy tour in the fall.  It's called "I Said What I Said". He hasn't revealed the dates yet, and the shows are invite only.  So if you're interested, hit up his Instagram.  It's possible that Jimmie IS joking.  If so, it's not funny.  He's facing serious sexual assault allegations, and there's no humor in that.

-----

the Primetime Emmy Awards have been postponed because of the Hollywood writers and actors strikes. The show was set to take place on September 18th on Fox.

-----

Universal Music says Carrie Underwood's husband, former NHL player Mike Fisher, was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame earlier this week.

Well, "The Usual Suspects" is no longer the biggest surprise ending in Kevin Spacey's career.  Yesterday, a London jury found him not guilty of ALL NINE sexual misconduct charges he was facing:  After the verdict, Spacey said he was "enormously grateful" to the jury and "humbled" by the outcome of the trial.  Yesterday also just happened to be Spacey's 64th birthday

-----

ABC's "General Hospital" has found an interesting way to keep coming up with new episodes during the strike:  SCABS!!!  They're using "temporary writers" to keep the show going.  The General Hospital writers understand though that stopping production could spell the demise of soap operas.

-----

Jason Aldean has trimmed six seconds from his "Try That in a Small Town" video.  According to the "Washington Post", he removed footage from a Fox Atlanta news report that showed violent imagery from a BLM protest in 2020. Jason hasn't commented . . . but his record company confirmed the footage was edited due to "third party copyright clearance issues"…I have this bridge…for sale….

-----

Reality TV star and one-time country singer Jana Kramer tells the Whine Down podcast that Miranda Lambert was rude for chastising fans for taking a selfie during one of her concerts. "I get the other side of it where it’s like ‘OK, I’m here to listen to music,' but it’s also, it’s a concert, in my mind, wouldn’t you want people having fun?

-----

Variety magazine says two Barbie sequels may be in the works. Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz says, “opportunities open up very quickly, once you establish the first movie as a successful representation of a franchise on the big screen. Successful movies lend themselves to more movies. Our ambition is to create film franchises.”

Collider magazine says Vin Diesel is planning to star in a new movie based on Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. Mattel has greenlit the film and hopes to fast track it once the actors and writers strike ends.

-----

When Jackson Dean shot his video for  “Fearless,” he knew two things…He wanted it to have an old western feel to it, and he knew he wanted his brother Kyle and his family to star in it..“I knew I wanted to use my brother and my sister-in-law and my niece to tell that story, because what else is greater there to fight for than your family? I can’t think of many other things.”

-----

Former Jeopardy champions are boycotting the next tournament due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Jeopardy relies on WGA members to write its clues and questions, but with the strike on, there can be no writers on set right now.
