The List for Friday, April 5th 2024

Welcome to The List,

"Entertainment Weekly" put together a list of the 31 best sci-fi movies of ALL TIME.  Spoiler alert:  Not a single "Star Trek" film made the cut, sorry Trekkies.  (Not even "The Wrath of Khan"???) Movies that DID make the list?  At number 1 "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) "Alien" (1979) "Back to the Future" (1985) number 26  "Star Wars: Episode 5 — The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and “WALL-E” (2008) came in last.

-----

We got a first glimpse at Jelly Roll's brand-new set of teeth.  His wife posted a video showing off his new smile.  The only question now is . . . should he keep them all white, or add back in the gold and diamond teeth?  At the end of the video, Bunnie asked him, "Are you gonna keep it without the golds and diamonds in?"  And Jelly thought to himself for a moment before pointing at the camera and saying, "You know what . . . y'all tell us."

-----

Jason Aldean will perform at the CMT Music Awards this Sunday, just months after they yanked his controversial video for "Try That in a Small Town"He's doing "Let Your Boys Be Country", which is up for Video of the Year.

-----

KISS has sold its music catalog, name, logo, and image and likeness rights to a company called Pophouse Entertainment.  They're developing a hologram show, a documentary, and a biopic.

The List for Thursday, April 4th 2024

Welcome to The List,

"Chattahoochee" is one of Alan Jackson's biggest hits.  But he was actually reluctant to put it out, because he didn't know if people would relate.  In fact, even Waylon Jennings asked him, quote, "What the heck is a Chattahoochee?" Well, it's a river on the border of Georgia and Alabama.  But the song raises an even bigger question:  What's a HOOCHIE COOCHIE . . . as in, "It gets hotter than a hoochie coochie"??? Well, here's the answer, directly from songwriter Jim McBride:  A hoochie coochie is . . . a county fair strip show.

-----

A fifth "Matrix" movie is in the works, but there aren't any plot details yet.  Warner Brothers says the guy who wrote "Cloverfield" is writing and directing after proposing a "new idea" to continue the "Matrix" world.

-----

Here's a big celebrity sighting . . . literally.  Shaquille O'Neal showed up at Garth Brooks' new Friends in Low Places bar in Nashville the other night, and helped sling drinks.  He jumped behind the bar with Trisha Yearwood.  (Here's a video.) He also took time out to snap a few photos with a few Nashville cops.  He was in town DJing at Skydeck under his stage name "DJ Diesel".

-----

Aaron Rodgers made $81.14 under the NFL's performance-based pay system last season.  That's the lowest in the NFL.  He won't starve.  He's making $75 million over two years with the Jets.

The List for Monday, April 1st 2024

Welcome to The List,

We start today with some great news for the FIRST DAY OF APRIL!!  Eminem and 50 Cent teamed up for a new country album.  Eminem says, "I love country music.  My favorite song is the one about Applebee's." …Yeah, you got me April fools….

-----

Morgan Wallen sings, writes. Plays guitar and the piano “Yeah, I started playing piano when I was seven years old, and I learned to play it classically and played for a few years, and then I kind of just, just didn’t really play any instruments for a while because I was so focused on baseball.”  Other than ‘Sand In My Boots’ there really isn’t anything else he’s written for the piano…

-----

Loretta Lynn's granddaughter Emmy Russell took the American Idol stage once again on Sunday. Whether or not she moved on feels like an afterthought after her performance. Sunday night's American Idol episode was unique in that it was billed as the biggest cut in show history. More than half of the 143 Hollywood contestants were sent home. There are just 56 left. Russell is among that group.  She learned she'd moved on to tonights (April 1) Showstoppers Round, where the group will be trimmed to 24.

-----

A BuzzFeed list of the worst songs of the '90s is topped by Limp Bizkit's George Michael cover, "Faith".  It's followed by Lou Bega's "Mambo Number 5" and Crash Test Dummies' "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" Which used to be big karaoke hits…
