Our October Pack the Backpack winner is Megan Schutt, Kindergarten Teacher at Bailey Park Elementary School in the Grinnell-Newberg School District. She was nominated by her sister, Emily Louden. Here is her nomination later:
Megan Schutt is an outstanding kindergarten teacher at Bailey Park Elementary in Grinnell, Iowa.
Megan meets every student she encounters where they are emotionally and educationally to help define what success will look like for them. She is patient and kind as well as funny and imaginative. Megan goes above and beyond for every student to make them feel important and successful.
Megan buys special gifts and snacks for students when they reach a goal making them even more proud they accomplished what they set out to do. Her students are engaged and if they struggle she finds a way to help teach them so they feel they can do anything they set out to do.
She often gives up lunch time, planning time, and even personal time for her students. She is invested in their success even after they leave her classroom at the end of the year. One of the biggest hearts, best smiles (and laughs), and a truly amazing encourager.
I wish you could spend a day watching her do what she loves. She is truly amazing and is such a gift to her students, their families, and her co workers. Grinnell Newburg School District is better because of her and the blessings she offers.
I hope you will consider her for the Pack the Backpack.
Sincerely,
Emily Louden

AT THE MOVIES...Thursday’s at 5:40, brought to you by North Grand Cinema in Ames and IBC KIX 101.1….

Welcome to The List…
Hollywood’s biggest fear is officially here. Dead actors… still booking roles. A new movie is using A.I. to bring Val Kilmer back. Yeah. From the grave… straight to the premiere. The director says Val wanted this. His family signed off too. Which is great… until your Netflix suggestions start haunting you. Somewhere an Oscar just felt uncomfortable.
-----
Tom Brady says he wears a disguise to his kids’ games. Not kidding. Hoodie. Hat. Full undercover quarterback mode. Apparently the kids don’t want attention on them because… you know… their dad is TOM BRADY. Imagine trying to sneak into a gym when you’re built like a superhero statue. Sir… we still know it’s you.
-----
Rumor is Keith Urban might be going through a midlife crisis after the split. Sources say he wants to live the single life again. Totally different person now. Which honestly just sounds like every guy who suddenly discovers energy drinks and fitted jeans. Next step is obvious. Corvette. New Balance. Bluetooth headset.
-----
Kenny Chesney just launched his own record label. Big move. Real boss energy. It’s named after his boat… because of course it is. And the first artist he signed…drumroll… Kenny Chesney. Man skipped the middleman and hired himself. HR meeting must be real smooth.
You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
