Holiday Pack the Backpack: Mrs. Jocelyn Nimmo

Pack the Backpack, presented by Central Office Supply, a division of Minuteman and Kix 101.1! Each month during the school year, we will be awarding $101 to a Kix Country classroom to help out with supplies. We will award the prize on the last Wednesday of the month. You can listen to each new winner at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.

Our Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack wraps up this week with final winner being Mrs. Jocelyn Nimmo, Special Education Teacher at Grinnell Middle School. She was nominated by a co-worker, 8th Grade Teacher Brenna Vogel. Here is what Brenna wrote to Kix 101.1.:

I would like to nominate Jocelyn Nimmo from Grinnell Middle School for the Pack the Backpack award. This is Jocelyn’s 3rd year teaching at the middle school and she was chosen this year to lead our building’s special education team. Jocelyn places such importance on creating relationships with every student that even kids not on her roster will call out to her in the hall. She has been so supportive as I try to navigate how to help struggling students which is compounded by the fact that I still struggle as a beginning teacher. She has tracked down lesson plan ideas for me and been an endless source of information and resources. Jocelyn has the best interests of her students and colleagues at heart.

Thank you,

Brenna Vogel

Take a listen to our surprise interview with Mrs. Nimmo below!

The List for Wednesday, December 31st 2025

Welcome to The List,

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Ian Ziering is being sued over a wild 2023 New Year’s Eve incident on Hollywood Boulevard involving motorcycle riders. A plaintiff claims Ziering got out of his car and shoved him, sparking a larger fight and injuries. Ziering says he was checking damage after being approached aggressively and insists it was self-defense. Now the whole thing is headed to court. Hollywood never disappoints.

Taylor Swift just made Christmas a whole lot better for Kansas City Chiefs employees. During a holiday game at Arrowhead Stadium, Taylor surprised staff with cash gifts. One worker shared that Taylor handed her $600 personally, leaving her emotional and overwhelmed. Santa wears red, apparently with lipstick.

-----

Jimmy Kimmel is allegedly planning to end his ABC late-night run in May 2027, and insiders say he wants Donald Trump as his final guest. The thinking is one last headline, one last laugh, and the ultimate mic drop. With audiences shifting to streaming and ratings changing, sources say internally this is being called Jimmy’s “goodbye year.”

-----

Riley Green told CMT he thinks old-school politeness still matters and too many people have forgotten that. He says simple things go a long way, and he’s not wrong. In a world of comment sections and hot takes, Riley just wants people to act right. Country manners never go out of style.

The List for Tuesday, December 30th 2025

Welcome to The List,

Kim Kardashian just answered the age-old question: what do you buy for someone who has everything? A $125,000 bike from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. Kim gifted Kourtney the iconic red bike, which came from a private collection and went for way more than expected at auction. Kourtney called it the “coolest Christmas present.” Meanwhile the rest of us are out here comparing air fryer prices.

Thomas Rhett told People magazine that he loves jumping into whatever hobbies his kids are into. He says that’s what his dad did for him, and now it’s his turn. One week it’s something new, this week they’re riding horses. He says every kid needs one-on-one time. Which is sweet… and also explains why that man is always exhausted.

-----

If you listened to country music at all in 2025, congrats, you basically listened to Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallen. Year-end streaming and radio numbers show both guys dominating the most-played tracks of the year. Post Malone, Shaboozey, and Jordan Davis also landed big. Classic voices mixed with newer hits defined the year. And yes, Post Malone is still country’s weird cousin who keeps getting invited back.

-----

It’s official. Stranger Things just dropped the trailer for its series finale, and it’s pushing every nostalgia button known to man. Hopper gives Eleven a pep talk, Vecna’s still mad, red skies everywhere, and emotions are running high. The finale hits New Year’s Eve on Netflix and will also screen in theaters. One last trip to the Upside Down. Prepare your feelings.
