The List for Monday, December 4th 2023

Welcome to The List,

The National Anthem…really NOT an easy song to do…but, Whitney Houston did a great job, so did Chris Stapleton and countless others…but for Warren Zeiders? Not so much.  He sang the National Anthem before Saturday’s Big 12 Championship game between Texas and Oklahoma State.  (Texas won 49 to 21.)  If you saw it and LIKED it, you’re NOT in the majority. The poor guy was getting roasted WHILE he was still singing.  There were so many bad reviews that he became a top 10 trend on X very early in the game.  The comments ranged from “awful” to “hilariously terrible” to “ear-bleeding bad.”  You can check out his anthem, here

The University of Florida will debut a new course in the Spring called “Musical Storytelling with Taylor Swift and Other Iconic Female Artists.” The course will explore Taylor Swift’s discography and songwriting. Students will analyze themes in Swift’s music and draw connections to other female artists like Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday.

Dolly Parton surprised everybody by wearing that Dallas Cowboys cheerleading outfit on Thanksgiving.  Even her team didn’t know about it.  Her manager said, quote, “When she came out of the dressing room, myself, the security, and my staff fainted.  That’s the genius of Dolly, and people are talking about it.”

Variety Magazine says Walker Hayes’ life story is being turned into a TV series by Untitled Entertainment. The series will follow an aspiring musician as he deals with addiction, poverty, loss, and a crisis of faith. Hayes will executive produce .

The new trailer for Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon is out…it looks pretty good too…I’m going to have to re-watch season ONE just to get reacquainted with it…It’s been two years ago…so, House of the Dragon drops Summer of 2024 on MAX.

If you’re a Marvel fan…I may have some news if you were hoping in all these “Multiverse” story lines  that there might be a return of Tony Stark and Ironman.  TMZ says Robert Downey Jr.’s character won’t be returning.  Downey’s character was killed off in ‘Endgame’. Marvel chief Kevin Feige confirms that moment will not be undone.

The List for Thursday, December 18th 2025

Welcome to The List,

The Oscars are officially breaking up with ABC and moving in with YouTube. Starting in 2029, the Academy Awards will stream on YouTube, along with all the red-carpet chaos, through at least 2033. ABC still gets the show through the 100th Oscars in 2028, but after that, no channel flipping — you’re clicking a link.

Don’t expect to see Michael Bublé back in the spinning chair next season. He says he’s done with The Voice after dealing with online backlash and missing his family. An insider says the negative comments really took a toll, even though he loves the show and the crew. Sometimes the smoothest crooner in the room just wants to go home and be Dad.

-----

Blake Shelton shared the first time he brought Gwen Stefani home to Oklahoma and it blew her mind. Gwen, raised in Anaheim, saw Blake’s land and asked, “You own this?” Then she spotted a creek and said, “You can have that?” She thought rivers only came with national park admission. Blake called it one of the joys of his life. City girl meets country acreage…

-----

Morgan Wallen is now the highest-selling country artist of all time. He just picked up 80 new certifications and officially crossed 240 million units sold. Luke Combs comes in at number two, Garth Brooks at number three. Let that sink in. Skipped awards shows, topped streaming, and now sits on the mountain. Morgan let the numbers do the talking and they did….loudly.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
