The List for Friday, September 1st 2023

Welcome to The List,

Taylor Swift’s concert film, “The Eras Tour”, premieres October 13th at AMC Theatres.  It’s already earned $10 million in ticket presales.  It has so much hype that Universal moved the release of “The Exorcist: Believer” so it doesn’t have to compete.

This summer, a LOT of people got a kick out of the #Barbenheimer meme, which went viral as “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” opened on the same day. And one of those people was:  Barbera Oppenheimer, a 68-year-old grandma in Massachusetts.  That IS her real name . . .

—–

Famous people with kids will tell you they HAVE to hire nannies because they’re so darn busy.  Well, maybe that’s just an excuse. Luke Combs and his wife are expecting their second child very soon.  He says the plan is to raise the kids without nannies and give them a real home life.  Quote, “I’d rather them be riding bikes than riding a tour bus.”

—–

If I asked you to name the worst job you’ve ever had AND the most boring job you’ve ever had . . . would they be the same?  They were for Jon Pardi.  He punched the timeclock at a grocery store when he was 15 and hated when they “sent him down the aisles to pull cans and turn ’em around.”

—–

Labor Day reminds Nate Smith of his very first job, which was working on an alfalfa field where he moved pipes in the morning to make sure everything got watered properly.  As for Labor Day weekend, he says, quote, “That just means a lot of drinking.  Party on.”

—–

And lastly, Contact Music reports Halle Berry was doing an Instagram chat with fans when she vowed to fight aging…get in line girl!  She says she’s of course aging but she’s going down swingin…

The List for Thursday, February 19th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Travis Kelce is out here setting expectations so high the rest of us are gonna get yelled at for bringing home gas station flowers. He’s reportedly spent $141,000 on pre-wedding gifts for Taylor Swift, including Rolex watches, designer jackets, and daily flower deliveries. Daily. Meanwhile, I forgot my anniversary once and tried to fix it with a breakfast burrito. Travis Kelce just ruined relationships for every man in America.

-----

Lainey Wilson is teasing new music, and the title might be the most Lainey Wilson thing ever. The new single is called “Can’t Sit Still,” which tracks, because she’s been everywhere except my back yard party. She says her friends describe her as “a suitcase with legs,” which honestly sounds like Delta Airlines lost her twice already. No official release date yet, but she says it’s coming “real soon,” so prepare your playlists accordingly.

-----

Bunnie XO just revealed she thought Jelly Roll was a jerk when they first met, which proves once again women love a fixer-upper. She said he had “teddy bear with teeth energy” and sad eyes, and she basically looked at him like a home improvement project from HGTV. Fast forward to now, they’re one of Country music’s biggest power couples. Moral of the story, sometimes the guy who ignores you becomes your husband.

-----

The new Mummy reboot is ditching the Tom Cruise action vibe and going straight for emotional damage. This one’s from the director of Evil Dead Rise, so instead of running from explosions, you’ll be running from your own nightmares. It’s about a girl who disappears and comes back after spending quality time inside a 3,000-year-old coffin. It hits theaters April 17th, and I’ll be watching it from the safety of daylight and denial.

You can catch The List, this afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
