The List for Monday, May 30th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Jewel delivered the National Anthem at the Indy 500 yesterday, and it was . . . different. She slowed it down a little and added some soul . . . maybe even a little country flavor, with only her acoustic guitar to accompany her. Not surprisingly, there are people complaining that it was the absolute worst thing they’ve ever heard . . . and others calling it brilliant.  Whatever the case, this isn’t the first time she’s performed the anthem like this.  She did a similar version at the NBA All-Star Game back in February.

Benedict Cumberbatch and his family were at their home in London when a crazy guy with a knife kicked his way through the security gate and started screaming about wanting the place to burn down.  He was hit with a fine and a restraining order. Surprisingly not a “Dr. Strange Dismemberment spell”.

—–

The NY Post says Dolly Parton’s theme park, Dollywood, is going to undergo a $500 million renovation that will take 10 years. A new roller coaster and new hotel will be part of the renovation. Sounds fun!

—–

Lee Greenwood was in France over the weekend, but he wasn’t there to drink over-priced wine and eat smelly cheese.  Although that could’ve happened.  He visited graves in Normandy where some 10,000 American soldiers are buried. The cemetery overlooks Omaha Beach where soldiers came ashore during World War 2.  Lee planted American flags on some graves, and also honored them by singing “God Bless the USA“.

—–

The Little Mermaid” owned the box office this weekend, with a $117.5 million Memorial Day take.  There’s big news coming out of Hollywood for John Wick fans…Lionsgate’s motion picture group chair Joe Drake teased development of a fifth movie in the studio’s John Wick’s franchise Thursday.  With all the spinoffs on the board he said. “We’re building out the world and when that 5 movie comes, it will be organic,  But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”

—–

Jay Leno tells the NY Post that only one thing would make him retire from stand-up comedy. ”A stroke. Then you slow down. That’s when you retire — when you have your stroke.” Not burning yourself up apparently, And finally, Jennifer Nettles still has her TV job.  Fox has renewed “Farmer Wants a Wife” for a second season.  Jennifer is the host.

The List for Friday, December 26th 2025

Welcome to The List,

Nicole Kidman is reportedly hitting the reset button on her love life. Insiders say she’s done with high-profile relationships and now wants something quieter, calmer, and way less tabloid-friendly. Along with that, she’s allegedly planning a full image refresh new look, possible cosmetic tweaks, the whole “new chapter” energy.

-----

Adam Sanders was crowned the very first winner of The Road during the finale at the legendary Ryman Auditorium. And right after the big win, Keith Urban leaned in and whispered something Sanders says he’ll never forget: “You played this thing like a F’n fiddle.” Sanders beat out Cassidy Daniels and Channing Wilson and walked away with prize money, a record deal, a Stagecoach main-stage slot, and a Keith Urban quote that belongs in a frame.

-----

Kate Gosselin is officially walking again just 82 days after a serious leg injury. She shared the update on TikTok, saying she’s easing back in stages 25 percent, then 50, then 100. She says it’s a huge step toward recovery and she’s excited. Which is great, because raising eight kids feels like a full-contact sport.

-----

And finally… Tyler Farr admitted to one of the most country stories ever told. He says he once went skinny dipping and peed in Jason Aldean’s pool. Yes. That happened. Farr shared it like a proud memory, though Jason’s pool filter probably needed therapy afterward. Country music friendships are built different… and apparently so are their pools.

The List for Tuesday, December 23rd 2025

Welcome to The List,

Keith Urban just gave fans exactly what they’ve been begging for. His brand-new live album “High And A(live)” is officially out now, recorded straight from the High And Alive World Tour. You get 11 number-one hits, plus his cover of “You Get What You Give.” This isn’t a watered-down live album either it’s basically front-row energy without paying arena prices.

-----

Brad Paisley just confessed what every guy already knows… he’s a last-minute Christmas shopper. Brad says he ends up at the mall on December 24th, panic-buying gifts he doesn’t fully understand. He admits it’s a waste of what should be a fun day, but somehow he still does it every year. Buying mystery gifts and hoping for the best… truly a man of the people.

-----

Cher is catching heat for allegedly lip-syncing during her Saturday Night Live performance. Some fans compared it to Ashlee Simpson’s infamous 2004 moment which feels a little dramatic. Cher is 79 years old, it’s a taped show, and lip-syncing has been happening on SNL longer than the cold open.

-----

Jake Paul revealed he had surgery after getting knocked out by Anthony Joshua. He says doctors had to install two titanium plates on each side of his jaw and remove some teeth. Jake says the surgery went well, but he’s on liquids only for seven days. Nothing humbles a YouTuber faster than being on a smoothie diet.
