The List for Thursday, January 5th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Super Bowl 57 airs on Sunday, February 12th on Fox.  The game takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with Rihanna headlining the halftime show. All that is good to know…but what about the commercials? For now we can confirm that Walter White isn’t dead after all.  He’s returning for a Super Bowl commercial for Frito-Lay’s PopCorners. Bryan Cranston shared a picture of himself as Walter holding a bag of chips, with the caption, “Breaking Soon.”

Entertainment Weekly put together a list of the 20 best guilty pleasure movies.  It includes “Overboard”“Twilight”, and “Point Break”. Others making that list include “Pretty Woman”, “Miss Congeniality” and “Showgirls”…so, if your favorite movie is on the list don’t feel bad…it’s a guilty pleasure. Well except for “Showgirls” shame on you.

Brantley Gilbert says he’s met a lot of people in the music business, but the one guy who has impressed him the most, is Blake Shelton.  He says Blake has always been “solid, kind, and welcoming.”  He adds, quote, “I don’t know that you’ll meet anybody that’ll say a whole lot of negative stuff about Blake.”

In his new book, Prince Harry says Prince William once physically attacked him when they were arguing about his relationship with Meghan Markle.  He says William shoved him to the ground, but later apologized.   At least that’s what Harry says in his upcoming autobiography, “Spare”. “Spare” comes out next Tuesday.  The title refers to the fact that William is the HEIR to the throne, and Harry is the SPARE, in case anything happens to him.

Jimmie Allen will be a speaker at the undergraduate ceremony of his alma mater, Delaware State University, in May.  He said, quote, “I met lifetime friends there and learned so much about who I am as a Black man . . . [I] hope I can share something that will inspire the next generation of leaders.”

Shane Profitt met his mentor, Chris Janson, for the first time at a sushi restaurant, which is ironic because up to that point he had never eaten sushi and was pretty sure he didn’t like it. The “How It Outta Be’ singer was only at the restaurant because he was on a date with a girl who said she wanted sushi.  “The crunchy shrimp sushi roll is my go to if we go to a sushi restaurant. I still haven’t stepped into the raw aspect of the sushi side, but maybe one day I’ll expand my horizons and step into that raw sushi aspect. “

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
