The List for Tuesday, December 13th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Nominees for the Golden Globes were announced yesterday . . . and remember how Will Smith was concerned that his behavior at the Oscars would unnecessarily punish the cast and crew of “Emancipation”? Well, that may be EXACTLY what happened . . . because the movie was completely snubbed, even though many people expected it to get some love this award season. Tom Cruise also failed to score a nod for “Top Gun: Maverick”. . . even though the movie itself got two, for Best Motion Picture, Drama and Best Original Song.

Luke Combs sitting down at home with his guitar and shared a piece of a song he’s thinking about releasing…it’s called “Tattoo on a Sunburn”..not sure…he took it to Instagram and asked fans…should he release this song? So far the responses have been overwhelmingly positive.  check it out HERE

Sometimes you just want to say TO HECK with everything, crank the stereo, and rock . . . SOFT??? If that sounds like you, then I’ve got some nifty news for you:  a SOFT ROCK docuseries called “Sometimes When We Touch” will debut on Paramount+ on January 3rd. Artists profiled include Hall & Oates, Kenny Loggins, Lionel Richie, Air Supply, Michael McDonald, the Carpenters, Christopher Cross, and more.

—–

“Billboard” put out its annual year-end report on the top country artists, songs, producers, and everything else you can think of.  And the standout again this year was Morgan Wallen. He’s at the top of NINE different lists.  They include Top Country Artist . . . Top Male Country Artist . . . top album for “Dangerous: The Double Album” . . . and “Wasted on You” was the Top Hot Country Song AND the most-streamed country song in 2022.  Walker Hayes.  “Fancy Like” was the most-downloaded song of the year…

—–

Lainey Wilson performed “Watermelon Moonshine” on a flatbed trailer on Sunday’s episode of “Yellowstone” . . . and it was a “full-circle moment” for her.  She says it reminded her of when she was a high school student, and her first gig was performing as a Hannah Montana impersonator on a flatbed trailer stage…Hanna Montana? I feel so old…

The CMA Country Christmas is Thursday on ABC and Carly Pearce shares one of her favorite Christmas memories … “My favorite Christmas memories is when I worked at Dollywood, I worked in the Christmas show there called Christmas in the Smokies, during Frosty the Snowman, I dressed up as a mascot version of Frosty the Snowman. And just thinking about that girl, who was literally willing to do whatever to be on stage, so much so that she would be Frosty the Snowman, that’s pretty cool.” ‘CMA Country Christmas airs Thursday 8pm on ABC.

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1

The List for Tuesday, March 31st 2026

Welcome to The List,

Taylor Swift has officially entered her glittery legal era again. A Las Vegas performer says Taylor’s use of “The Life Of A Showgirl” is stomping all over her own brand, “Confessions of a Showgirl.” She’s suing for trademark infringement, wants damages, and an injunction too.

Only Kid Rock could turn a poolside salute into a military investigation. The Army says two Blackhawk helicopters near his Tennessee mansion were just on a Nashville training route, but now they’re checking into why they hovered there. Kid says nobody’s getting in trouble and called it pretty neat. Nothing says casual Tuesday like cannonballs, patriotism, and two black helicopters hovering near your house…

-----

Riley Green is stacking side quests like a pro. He’s making his TV debut on Marshals in mid-April. And because sleep is for other people, he’s also reportedly opening a second Duck Blind bar in Gatlinburg. At this point Riley’s building a country music cinematic universe.

-----

Thomas Rhett says one of his favorite parts of touring is trying wild new foods on the road, which sounds adventurous and expensive. Meanwhile Dylan Scott keeps it a little more backyard chaos at home, admitting he’ll wander into the kitchen at midnight and cook a full meal like it’s noon. His wife wakes up confused; he’s making dinner round two. That’s not a snack, that’s a second shift.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
