September Pack the Backpack Winner: Mrs. Morgan McFate

Pack the Backpack, presented by Central Office Supply, a division of Minuteman and Kix 101.1! Each month during the school year, we will be awarding $101 to a Kix Country classroom to help out with supplies. We will award the prize on the last Wednesday of the month. You can listen to each new winner at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.

Our September winner is STEM Teacher at South Tama Middle School, Morgan McFate. She was nominated by Crystal Hass, who wrote to Kix 101.1:

Morgan has been at South Tama County Middle School for 5 years and pours her heart into her STEM curriculum and makes class exciting for all students. Every week she sees hundreds of students, gets to know them on a personal level, and shares her love of learning. She makes class enjoyable by being hands-on with projects and activities.

She not only supports our Middle School students but she also manages the community pool in the summer, coaches Basketball Cheerleading, and Girl’s Soccer. She is an asset to our community and our school is better with her as an educator.

Thank you for your consideration,

Crystal Hass

The List for Thursday, February 5th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Rumors are flying that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have allegedly set a wedding date. A so-called source says the planning is “military-level precise,” which tracks, because Taylor hates surprises and Travis runs NFL playbooks for a living. Pop music, professional football, and Hollywood elite all in one room. Locked down, protected, unforgettable. Basically the most intense group project ever attempted.

-----

Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison is launching a new dating show for people who want a “traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values.” Which apparently is now considered edgy programming. Somewhere, reality TV just gasped. This is not roses and drama. This is compatibility and emotional maturity.

-----

Before Luke Combs made it big, he had $200 left in his bank account. That money went toward mastering one song, “Hurricane.” He releases it, sells about 10,000 copies the first week, and uses the cash to finish the rest of the album. Then pitches it to labels. And that, kids, is how you bet on yourself and win.

-----

Toby Keith, Kenny Rogers, and Ed Harris are being inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The ceremony happens in April in Oklahoma City. They’re joining legends like George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Kurt Russell, and Burt Reynolds. That is a hall with serious swagger. Cowboy hats optional. Legends required.

Catch The List, with Jonathan Knight weekday afternoon at 4:20. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
