The List for Wednesday, September 7th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Things just got worse between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.  Angelina’s company Nouvel is suing Brad for $250 MILLION over the French winery they bought as a couple. The claim is that Brad and his associates tried to seize control of the winery in order to ensure that Angelina would never see a dime from its profits.  And he did it to get back at her over their divorce and custody battles.

Maren Morris tells Bravo that America’s Got Talent, The Voice and American Idol all rejected her. “Now people cover my songs for their auditions on those shows, so it’s, like, not only is it really nice to have my song on a national television show, [but] I get to collect the check and have some sweet revenge.” …wow….

Disney+ Day is tomorrow.  Some of the new items coming to the streamer include a live-action “Pinocchio”“Thor: Love and Thunder”, and a “Cars” series with the voices of Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy. It’s basically a day where a bunch of new stuff comes out.  Sing-along versions of “Frozen” and “Frozen 2”. A behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” called “Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return”.

Here’s something out of left field…Radar Online says Mark Wahlberg wants $7 million to be the opening act on Kevin Hart’s comedy tour. Kevin is playing arenas and making millions of dollars a show and Mark wants a piece of it. Mark asked for $7 million, making him the most expensive opening act of all time. Kevin said ‘thanks, but no thanks.'” The two are starring in a new Netflix movie called “Me Time”…I’m wondering though what exactly would Mark be DOING for $7 million as an opening act.

Blake Shelton says he is preparing himself for the end of his career. Whiskey Riff quotes him as saying, “I’ve always been prepared for when this ends and my song doesn’t get played anymore. The clock is ticking…people are going to get tired of you winning the awards. How many albums do I need by Blake Shelton?” Well, I would say, stop putting out HITS then Blake…

Walker Hayes is the inspiration for this year’s “country music corn maze” at Tennessee’s Honeysuckle Hill Farm.  His portrait is etched in the cornfield with, quote, “Nashville [hearts] Walker Hayes”.  If you remember, last year’s design was Loretta Lynn

The List for Friday, March 27th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Carrie Underwood says her boys can sing, but she is not handing out tiny little record deals just because Mom can hit a note. Her oldest is already a mini-Carrie, super into music, but she says the music business can wait until he is older and knows who he is. One minute Mom is on stage in sequins, next minute she is making dinner like nothing happened. Country queen by night, casserole ninja by six.

Morgan Wallen says he is done hiding behind excuses, and that might be the most grown-up sentence he has ever said out loud. He told CMT that back then, there was always something to blame when things went sideways. Now he says if he messes up, it is on him. Accountability..

-----

Netflix just raised prices again, and at this point your streaming bill is starting to look like a car payment. The ad plan is now $8.99, standard is $19.99, and premium jumps to $26.99. Remember when cutting the cord was supposed to save money? Now we are all just paying cable prices with extra steps. Congrats, we played ourselves.

-----

The iHeartRadio Music Awards wrapped up last night, and if you are guessing who won everything, go ahead and say it with me. Taylor Swift. Again. Save everybody a few hours. Show up, wave, collect hardware, repeat.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
