The List for Friday, August 5th 2022

Welcome to The List,

Lady A announced yesterday that they’re canceling their Request Line tour so Charles Kelley can work on his sobriety.  The tour was supposed to start August 13th, but it’s been postponed to next year. This isn’t a new issue for Charles.  In 2019 he admitted to “drinking too much” and wrote about it in the song “Be Patient With My Love”.  But this time he’s attacking it head-on, and will surely be getting the help he needs. To show their support, the band is changing its name to Lady AA.

It’s International Beer Day!  According to people who voted on Ranker.com, the best country songs about beer include “Pop a Top” by Alan Jackson . . . “I Love This Bar” by Toby Keith . . . and “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink” by Merle Haggard.

It’s another Luke Combs story this time he  was performing in Atlanta when a fan named Skyla held up a sign that read:  “Long neck ice cold beer never broke my heart — But you did!!! Please be my husband or at least make a TikTok with me!!”  so, he made a TikTok….

75,000 yellow rubber duckies were dumped into the Chicago River yesterday as part of the city’s 2022 Chicago Ducky Derby. People adopt the ducks with the money going to Special Olympics Illinois.

The List for Friday, February 13th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Brantley Gilbert sang “Dirt Road Anthem” at the Turning Point USA halftime show, and Zach Bryan took it personally. So Zach dropped a parody called “Chili on a Hot Dog,” basically roasting the lyrics and celebrating double-fisted chili dogs like it’s a county fair championship. Brantley fired back by grabbing two foot-long chili dogs on stage and acting it out. Jason Aldean chimed in with, “Best song I’ve heard from that guy.” Nothing says country unity like processed meat.

Thomas Rhett admitted on a podcast he’s losing hearing in one ear at 35 and had to get hearing aids. Years of loud concerts… plus four kids and a fifth on the way. He wore them for a week and asked his wife, “Is this what you hear all day?” She basically said, welcome to marriage. Turns out the loudest tour of his life is at home.

-----

There’s a new indie horror movie called ‘The House Was Not Hungry Then’, told entirely from the haunted house’s perspective. No close-ups. No dramatic reaction shots. Just the house silently watching a woman search for her missing father. It hits video on demand February 13th. So now even the drywall is judging you.

-----

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer says he’s working on Top Gun 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 6. He told Screen Rant it’s basically a horse race. Right now Top Gun is barely ahead, waiting on a script. So Maverick might fly again… or Jack Sparrow might stumble back in. Hollywood is saying…. originality is overrated.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
