The List for Wednesday, July 6th 2022

Welcome to The List,

The “Forbes” list of the richest self-made women in America is out.  Pop star Rihanna is the youngest billionaire on the list.  She’s 34 and valued at $1.4 billion.  Other celebrities who made the list include Kim Kardashian ($1.8 billion), Kylie Jenner ($600 million), and Madonna ($575 million).

Scotty McCreery tells People Magazine that he and his wife are ready for their first baby. Saying, “We got a little man on the way. We always knew we wanted kids, but we always knew we wanted to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life.  So seems like now’s a good time to settle down a little and expand the family.”

The numbers are staggering, how much will Tom Cruise make on his latest blockbuster?  He could earn up to $90 million for “Top Gun: Maverick”.  The movie has made $1.1 billion at the box office so far and he’s set to earn 10% of Paramount’s cut, not to mention what he’d get from the DVD and streaming release.

—–

It’s International Kissing Day.  So what’s the best country song with the word “kiss” in the title?  An online poll gave the top spot to “This Kiss” by Faith Hill.  The top ten also include “Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'” by Charley Pride . . . “You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like This” by Toby Keith . . . and “Just a Kiss” by Lady A.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures made some scheduling announcements last week, including the release date for Godzilla vs. Kong 2. The sequel to the acclaimed 2021 monster flick will premiere on March 15, 2023. Of course, there’s plenty of time for more scheduling shakeups between now and then.

When your name is Hank Williams Jr., lets face it, fireworks are small potatoes.  So, Hank celebrated the 4th of July by firing his Civil War canon in his back yard. Being Bocephus’ neighbor has certain expectations. ABC is doing a two-hour live special for Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Kelsey Grammer said the script for a “Frasier” reboot is almost done saying he cried while reading the first part of it. Yeah,  Sounds hilarious!

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1

The List for Friday, March 27th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Carrie Underwood says her boys can sing, but she is not handing out tiny little record deals just because Mom can hit a note. Her oldest is already a mini-Carrie, super into music, but she says the music business can wait until he is older and knows who he is. One minute Mom is on stage in sequins, next minute she is making dinner like nothing happened. Country queen by night, casserole ninja by six.

Morgan Wallen says he is done hiding behind excuses, and that might be the most grown-up sentence he has ever said out loud. He told CMT that back then, there was always something to blame when things went sideways. Now he says if he messes up, it is on him. Accountability..

-----

Netflix just raised prices again, and at this point your streaming bill is starting to look like a car payment. The ad plan is now $8.99, standard is $19.99, and premium jumps to $26.99. Remember when cutting the cord was supposed to save money? Now we are all just paying cable prices with extra steps. Congrats, we played ourselves.

-----

The iHeartRadio Music Awards wrapped up last night, and if you are guessing who won everything, go ahead and say it with me. Taylor Swift. Again. Save everybody a few hours. Show up, wave, collect hardware, repeat.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
