Pack the Backpack Holiday Edition Winner #4

Iowa’s Best Country, KIX 101.1, Central Office Supply, A division of Minuteman, along with generous employees at Lennox Industries in Marshalltown bring you the Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack. Six area teachers will be awarded $101 dollars in December.

Winners will be announced on December 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.

Our fourth winner for the Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack is 1st grade teacher at Rogers Elementary in Marshalltown, Jodi Kolbe. She was nominated by school secretary, Mary Verdugo. Here is the nomination letter:

Hi guys, My name is Mary Verdugo. I am the school secretary at Rogers Elementary, I could give you a list of most of our teachers that go beyond to have what we need for our kids and that make their room a wonderful environment for our students, but today I will give you a name – Jodi Kolbe. Jodi has had a hard summer losing a loved one and still being there for her students — or her kids as she calls them. She is awesome and she has purchased, like many of our teachers, many things out of her pocket to have things that her students need. So I nominate her for the pack the backpack.

Listen below to my interview with Jodi.

The List for Thursday, February 5th 2026

Welcome to The List,

Rumors are flying that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have allegedly set a wedding date. A so-called source says the planning is “military-level precise,” which tracks, because Taylor hates surprises and Travis runs NFL playbooks for a living. Pop music, professional football, and Hollywood elite all in one room. Locked down, protected, unforgettable. Basically the most intense group project ever attempted.

-----

Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison is launching a new dating show for people who want a “traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values.” Which apparently is now considered edgy programming. Somewhere, reality TV just gasped. This is not roses and drama. This is compatibility and emotional maturity.

-----

Before Luke Combs made it big, he had $200 left in his bank account. That money went toward mastering one song, “Hurricane.” He releases it, sells about 10,000 copies the first week, and uses the cash to finish the rest of the album. Then pitches it to labels. And that, kids, is how you bet on yourself and win.

-----

Toby Keith, Kenny Rogers, and Ed Harris are being inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The ceremony happens in April in Oklahoma City. They’re joining legends like George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Kurt Russell, and Burt Reynolds. That is a hall with serious swagger. Cowboy hats optional. Legends required.

Catch The List, with Jonathan Knight weekday afternoon at 4:20. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
