Marshalltown firefighters were still on the scene early this morning after a fire on East Boone Street.

Marshalltown Police had already evacuated the building by the time fire crews got to the two story, multiple family residence last night after seven o’clock.

The blaze reportedly began in the rear of the house, but once it was discovered that the fire had already made its way to the second floor and attic, where firemen were met by heavy smoke, the task became to try and save the structure.
