A judge has set a five-million dollar, cash-only bond for the man accused of attacking 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts as she went for a run in her hometown of Brooklyn on July 18th, then hiding her body in a cornfield.

If Rivera comes up with five-million dollars in cash, the judge ruled he can be released but must turn-over his passport and be restricted to staying in Poweshiek County.

The attorney representing Rivera wants cameras to be barred from the proceedings. Allan Richards says images of his client in a courtroom will be used by politicians debating the nation’s immigration system.

Rivera’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 31st.
