Thursday 14th May 2026

Last night Marshalltown Police Chief Chris Jones talked about Police Memorial Day.  A proclamation was made by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 made May 15th Police Memorial Day. The beginning of May is also National Police Week.

Officer Crouse died during a single vehicle car crash during a pursuit.  Chief Jones recognizes the Jailer who died in the line of duty.

Chief Jones says it is important to remember these individuals each year during Police Week.  He goes on to say that this week gives them an opportunity to highlight officers doing great work in our area.  He announces the officer of the year.

Officer Morrison did not want to speak last night as he soaked in the appreciation and applause from the crowded chambers.  Officer Morrison will be the guest for Central Iowa Today this Thursday to talk about his career in law enforcement.
