The Ames Police Department sent out an update from the double homicide over the weekend. They have officially named the deceased individuals, 26-year-old Markasia M. McCuddin of Ames and 1-year-old Liam Sanders-McCuddin of Ames.
At approximately 8:45pm on March 13th, Ames Police Officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Tripp St. for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived they found what appeared to be a mother and son both with several stab wounds. Both victims were immediately treated by officers and other medical staff but the victims ultimately died from injuries sustained.
Officers located the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest. Davontrez R. McCuddin of Fort Dodge, IA has been charged with two counts of murder in the first degree, a class “A” felony. Ames Police does not believe there to be an on-going threat to the public. This is an on-going investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Ames Police Department.
