The City of Marshalltown has announced the Public Hearing for the increase in the property tax levy will be March 23rd at 5pm at the City Council Chambers. The City is planning to increase the levy from $16.00 per $1000 of valuation to $16.25. The increase is needed as the city is looking to purchase new buses.
That is City Councilor Greg Nichols who says the increase is all based on the public transit budget.
Councilor Jeff Schneider agreed with Nichols
Both Schneider and Nichols gave the Transit Department high praise for patching together the buses we have running. They both agree, it is time to get newer buses and the increase in the levy will position the city to do just that.
