February is Cancer Awareness Month and living in Iowa, Cancer is something we should be aware of. Iowa has the 2nd highest rate of new cancer cases in the Nation. The best thing for cancer is early detection.
That is Marshall County Public Health Director Sydney Grewell. She is encouraging people to get those scans and screens. There are also self-checks for some cancers.
Grewell says especially for skin cancer, if a spot or a mole does not look right, it is good to get that checked out. Talk with your primary doctor first for anything that does not look or feel right.
