Radon is a silent killer in Iowa.  Radon is a radioactive gas that forms when radioactive mentals break down in rocks, soil, and water.  It is colorless, tasteless, and odorless.

That is Marshall County Public Health Director Sydney Grewell, she says there is a way to test your home for free.

Grewell says the local hardware store will also have tests for sale.  Many people believe that Radon only happens in old homes, Grewell says that is not true.
