The largest cut Monday night at the Special Marshalltown City Council Meeting went to the Public Library cutting $125,000.  Another large line item was the $130,000 going towards the Arts and Culture Alliance.  Executive Director of the Arts and Culture Alliance, Amber Danielson, was at the meeting.

A 20% reduction would be $26,000 and would lower the total to $104,000.  The money for the Arts and Culture Alliance comes from LOST, so while it does not free up space in the General Budget, it does give the Council more money in LOST to cover the General Budget deficit. Councilor Jeff Schneider wanted to apply the same thinking they had with the Library with the Arts and Culture Alliance.

That schedule is a 15%, 25%, and 50% cut.  While those figures were calculated the Council then quickly moved to the next line item.  At the end of the meeting when discussing the Library again, the Arts and Culture Alliance was not discussed much further and the Council agreed to the 20% cut Danielson presented.
