Last night a fire broke out in the building just north of the Jiffy Gas Station on S. 3rd Ave. While Marshalltown Fire Department was responding, S 3rd Ave. was closed north and southbound. The Marshalltown Police Department made an announcement on their Facebook page for people to avoid the area. Once the fire department finished battling the fire, they sent an all-clear signal out through their Facebook page.
While many announcements from the city come from their alert system via Marshalltown-ia.gov. Sometimes immediate messages are sent through their social media pages, Marshalltown Police Department and Marshalltown Fire Department.
