The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA has put out four tips for people to keep in mind with the new year. Many people will make working out or getting in shape for the new year, and CEO Kim Jass-Ramirez says to keep the goal small and be consistent.
Once you have the goal in mind, Jass-Ramirez says its about creating a simple routine.
Another tip is to focus on progress and not perfection. Sometimes its more about making it to the gym than hitting that mileage goal
The final tip was SMART goals; Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time Based. Jass-Ramirez says if the goal seems unattainable, people tend to give up quickly. Set goals that you are able to achieve and feel good about.
