Most people have now seen the back-in parking that has been added in Marshalltown with the downtown Streetscape project.  Back-in parking can be intimidating for people, but after a few tries, it does get easier.  Police Chief Chris Jones joined the KFJB line this week to talk through back-in parking.  He says parking is strictly back-in only.

He says pulling in forward is much more dangerous than backing in

To pull in forward you will need to cross lanes of traffic then people will have to back out against traffic into the wrong lane.  Chief Jones says it will be an adjustment but he believes the community will figure it out. As a driving instructor he says they will need to add back-in parking.

Chief Jones says they will educate the public during an adjustment period as more of the downtown project is complete.
