Friday was the filing deadline for people to submit petitions to run for the County Supervisor primary in June.  There are a total of six candidates for three nominations.  One of the six candidates is a democrat, DeMorris Dean, who is a retired Sheriff Deputy from the Marshall County Sheriffs office.  Dean was the first ever black deputy in Marshall County.

On the republican side, there are five people and three seats.  All three supervisors have submitted paperwork to run for re-election.  Christian Goodman was appointed to fill his fathers seat and the reminder of this year.  His intention is to fill that seat for the reminder of the term through 2028.  Carol Hibbs and Jarret Heil have both submitted their petitions to run for re-election.

The final two on the Republican side are Bill Schendel, owner of Schendel Pest Control. Schendel lost a tight primary in 2024 to Kevin Goodman.  The final name is Tony Reed, owner of the All-American Property Management.  Reed ran for a seat in the Iowa House in 2020 and lost.  Other county races include County Treasurer and County Attorney.  Both Deann Tomlinson, County Treasurer, and Jordan Gaffney, County Attorney, have submitted their paperwork and will run unopposed.
