Kara Warme, Iowa State Senator in District 26, joined the KFJB line on Friday to discuss HF2635 working its way through the Iowa Legislature.

Warme explains that back in 1977 the state implemented a certificate of need process with health care equipment or a new service, doctors and practices would need to apply with the state.  Through the process, competing entities could make a decision on whether those services or equipment was needed.

Some of those services are radiation therapy, organ transplant, outpatient behavioral health and more.  The idea is to not slow down health care in Iowa and allow services to come and benefit Iowans quickly.
