The EMS Task Force has received the study back on a few options the City and County can do to have EMS coverage in Marshall County.  Here is Marshalltown Fire Chief Christopher Cross.

The final route would be to subsidies UnityPoint who is already providing the service to the County.

This is the recommendation to both the City and County. Chief Cross says the next step is for the City and County to meet and discuss how this could look.  He says it would most likely run out of his building and his department in the City of Marshalltown.

Having EMS out of the Fire Department is not unusual and it is something that Chief Cross has done in his career.  When he was in Windsor Heights in the Des Moines Metro, they had EMS out of their department.

Nothing is set in stone until the City and County meet and make a decision on the route to head down.  Chief Cross says while the Task Force recommends the collaboration, the City and County can make changes on how exactly it is implemented.
