Yesterday, Marshall County Sheriff Joel Phillips spoke on KFJB about the dry and windy conditions being ripe for fires.

On queue, there was a field fire yesterday near Highway 30 near Le Grand.  Around 2:15 yesterday, the Le Grand fire chief was notified of the fire and his crew responded.  With the conditions yesterday, the fire spread quickly and found its way into some residential yards on AA avenue.  Two buildings did catch fire, one building was a total loss.

No homes were affected in the fire and no injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Le Grand, Tama, Toledo, Montour, Gilman, Ferguson, and Green Mountain Fire Departments all helped with the fire.
