A big project coming to Marshalltown this year is updating the Center Street Viaduct.  This project will cause the Center Street Viaduct to be closed for a significant time.  Marshalltown Public Works Director Heather Thomas talks about what they will be working on.

She says they are cutting out a full section of the bridge.

Also, with the Center Street Viaduct project will be updating the railings

Thomas says this will be a large project and the Iowa DOT has given this project 120 working days.  This project is expected to start at the beginning of April and as that approaches we will have a better date. Access across the viaduct will be closed but the loops from Center Street to Washington Street, down to the YMCA, will remain open.
