The Center Street Main Street project is set to continue this year, the city plans to finish Main Street starting with the first block heading east then the final two blocks to 3rd Ave. Marshalltown Public Works Director Heather Thomas, says the construction will start at the end of March or early April, weather permitting.
Thomas is hoping that the first block heading east is only closed in both directions for a few weeks. This is a complete overhaul of infrastructure, not just a resurfacing of the road.
When digging under the road last year they did find an unexpected vault, Thomas does not anticipate any vaults during these final two blocks, but anything is possible.
